Meddling with Murder
Crouch End Confidential, the agency started by housewife, Cathy O’Farrell, with ex-cleaner Pimple, is failing badly. Hardly surprising when their only clients are little old ladies seeking lost pets. Until the strange case of the missing dog…
Soon Cathy’s multiple problems include stolen bikes, a possible murder weapon, the sabotage of her friends’ new shop, drug-dealing yobbos targeting her children’s primary school and being forced to pose as the world’s most inept maths tutor. Worse, best friend Rosa hires her to investigate fiancé Alec and – horrors – Cathy’s husband Declan is intent on moving himself, Cathy and kids to the safer climes of rural Norfolk. Suddenly Cathy is endangering her marriage, friendships and her life to untangle these messes. But that’s what you get for meddling with murder…
My Review of Meddling with Murder
Meddling with Murder is a hilarious addition to the Crouch End Confidential series. It is the third book featuring Cathy and her crew of friends and family solving the world’s mysteries….well, at least the mysteries in Crouch End. This time they’ve got a “lost dog,” missing bicycles and a whole lot of adventure.
I absolutely adore this series. I am pretty sure my favorite character is Pimple. Of course, I love Cathy and her friends, but there’s just something about Pimple. All of the characters in these books are ones that you can totally relate to. They are funny and well developed.
In Meddling with Murder, Cathy is worried that the business she and Pimple are running is going to go bankrupt soon after its start. Then they get a case that starts as another boring lost dog case and ends up rounding up a bunch of crooks and a murderer. But with all of the drug dealing going on around the schools, Cathy’s husband is convinced they should move out of the area. Poor Cathy!
This book will take you on a wild ride! You don’t have to read the other books in the series but I highly recommend you do. You can read my reviews of Looking for La La and To Catch a Creeper as well. Believe me, if you are a British Chick Lit/Mystery fan, you will love this series! I can’t wait to see what Cathy gets into next.
