Simple Ways to Relieve Your Mind and Body from Stress

Healthy Living· Lifestyle

Thanks for sharing!

It may surprise you to hear that biological stress is a somewhat recent discovery. It wasn’t until the 1950s that Dr. Hans Selye identified and documented the concept of stress and the effects that it has on the body. Stress and its symptoms can easily become overwhelming. However, there are simple ways that you can relieve your mind and body from stress.

Relieve Your Mind and Body from Stress

Listen to music

If you are feeling really overwhelmed by a situation, it helps to take a break. Listen to some relaxing music, and also focus on maintaining a calm mindset. When you do this, it will have a really positive impact on your mind, and it will lower your blood pressure too. As if that wasn’t enough, it can also reduce cortisol, which is a hormone that is often linked to stress.

Eat right

There is a definite link between a good diet and your stress levels. When you are overwhelmed, you may forget to eat well, and you may instead resort to fatty snacks. I do this way too much! We often do this because we feel as though it gives us a pick-me-up. If you want to help lower your stress, then you need to avoid sugary snacks. You also need to make sure that you plan ahead. That’s where a lot of us fail. We don’t plan ahead, so we eat junk!

Vegetables and fruit are always a good option, along with fish. This will give you a good amount of Omega-3 acids which are fantastic for relieving our minds and bodies from stress. You may feel as though you don’t have time or opportunities to eat fish. This is understandable, but there are ways around this. For example, you could easily eat a tuna wrap for dinner instead of opting for what you normally have.

Diet is sometimes disregarded when it comes to stress management, yet it may have a big impact on how we feel physically and emotionally. There are many various kinds of diets, and each one can be beneficial for reducing stress in a different way. Whichever diet you select, it’s critical to pay attention to your body’s needs and provide it the nourishing, whole meals that promote both physical and mental health.

Check out these 9 types of diets and how they can work for you.

Drink tea

A big dose of caffeine can easily cause you to experience a spike in your blood pressure. It can cause your adrenal glands to go into overdrive as well. If you want to help relieve your mind and body from stress, then you have to make sure that you opt for healthier drinks like green tea. Green tea will give you a good dose of amino acids, and it will also give you a boost of theanine too. This is known for having a calming effect on the nervous system. If you feel as though you often turn to drugs (whether prescribed or not) to calm your nerves, it may be worth researching polysubstance abuse.

Be mindful

If you want to truly benefit from the changes that you are making to your lifestyle then it helps to practice being mindful. You could do tai chi, yoga, or even Pilates. Being mindful will help you to boost the effectiveness of the exercises above, and it will help you to really get the most benefit from the exercise.

If you are struggling with mindfulness, you can always download an app. When you do, you can easily follow the instructions that are listed on the screen. You can also feel confident knowing that you are relieving your mind and your body from stress. Apps are also ideal if you don’t have much time in the day, as you can easily squeeze in a five-minute session before work.

Adding these ideas to your day to day life will have a positive impact on you as it helps relieve your mind and body from stress.
