The Curvy Girls Club
by Michele Gorman
When the pounds start falling off Katie, founder and president of London’s most popular social club for the calorie-challenged, it seems like a dream come true. But as the overweight stigma recedes and her life starts to change, she faces losing more than the inches around her waist. Everything that’s important to her – her closest friends, boyfriend, and acceptance into the club itself – are at stake in a world where thin is the new fat.
A funny, heart-warming story about overcoming the prejudices we hold, no matter where we tip the scales.
Who among us hasn’t struggled with weight issues? Or maybe it’s not a weight issue but a self-esteem issue. Well, Katie and her friends are just like us…maybe in a little bit more exciting way than some of us 🙂 They attend meetings to help them get the support they need to lose weight. However, most of them aren’t losing weight; they are just feeling worse about themselves. Some of them go to extremes to lose and still aren’t losing.
So they decide to start their own club. They just want to hang out, do fun things, and feel normal. And they do! They have fun and don’t feel out of place. They don’t feel like they are too fat when they are all together. They just enjoy life together. The club becomes hugely popular!
This is a cute book where the characters are really believable as is the storyline. I love that it focuses on real women with real weight struggles. We all need to learn to relax and enjoy our lives without obsessing over fitting into a magazine world.
The Real Curvy Girls Club
Michele enjoyed spending time in the fictional Curvy Girls Club so much while writing the book that she has created the real thing! The Curvy Girls Club is a friendly, supportive community where everyone is welcome, a fun place for people who want to feel great about themselves. There’s a website, Facebook group and Twitter page so that everyone can get a daily dose of loveliness and positivity. Michele would love for you to join the fun.
Imagine a place where nobody is judged by the size of their waistband, where you’re reminded every day how fabulous you are. That’s exactly what Michele Gorman did when she wrote THE CURVY GIRLS CLUB, and she had so much fun in that imaginary world that she’s creating the real thing!
You can be part of the real Curvy Girls Club – a friendly, supportive, encouraging community where everyone is welcome, a fun place for people who want to love themselves. Think of it as the most flattering fitting room in the world – perfect lighting and mirrors that make you feel fantastic. Because you are fantastic. And that’s the whole point.
Club members are treated to a daily dose of loveliness – empowering reminders that you’re pretty great just the way you are. Chat with one another, get involved in the book club and, once there are enough members, check out the real life social events. We’ve all got one thing in common: We want to live in a world where everyone is welcome no matter where they tip the scales.
