The Wife Maker by Karey White

Charlotte has spent years as the husband maker, sending every guy she dates off to enjoy marital bliss with the next girl he dates. But things have now changed, and she’s determined to use her husband-maker abilities one last time–on herself. And she finally knows exactly who she wants.

Angus has loved Charlotte since they were teenagers, but he’s tired of waiting for her to realize how good they could be. She’s broken his heart one too many times, and it’s time to move on with his life. Maybe a position halfway across the country will be just what he needs to get over her. But when Charlotte won’t let him go without a fight, Angus has to decide if he’s willing to let her in again or if she’s too late.

My Review

I am so sad to see this trilogy end. I love Charlotte! Her story has been such an emotional ride. Do you ever read books where you’re convinced that the characters are real? Well, if you read good books you should feel that way! This is one of those books. Charlotte is so real that you just want to smack her sometimes throughout the series. Other times, you want to call her up and let her know that things are going to be okay. All of the characters in these books are great. They all play important roles and feel very real as well.
As this is the third book in the series, I won’t go into any plot, but the plot is very cute. The story is so sweet, and I love that they are romantic AND clean! All of these books were ones I read in a day or two because they are very fast-paced and keep you completely engaged. Definitely start with book one. These are not stand alone books! You need to follow Charlotte’s story from the beginning 🙂 If you’re a romance lover, you’ll love these three books.
I’m including an excerpt so you can get a feel for how cute the books are 🙂

Excerpt

We walked in silence to the elevator. I took a deep breath and let it out slowly. “Only eight days until you leave.” I kept my eyes anchored on the changing numbers above the door, pretending I didn’t know he was leaving sooner than he’d told me.
“Actually, I’m leaving Monday.”
“You are?”
“I had to pay rent for the whole month of August, so I decided I might as well go a little earlier and get settled in before I get so busy.”
“Oh. That makes sense.”
The elevator doors opened and a man with a bundle of perfectly behaved balloons stepped off.
“You haven’t forgotten dinner, I hope.” I pushed the button for the lobby.
“Charlotte, I just—”
“No, Angus.” I hoped my voice didn’t sound as desperate as I felt. “Please don’t say you can’t.” He didn’t say anything. “Please.”
Angus sighed and shoved his hands in his pockets. “Tomorrow night?”
My heart broke a little at his response. He didn’t sound happy at all. He sounded like someone ready to plow through an unpleasant task to get it over with. My pride wanted to tell him to forget the whole thing, but I didn’t. How could I change his mind if I didn’t see him?
“Tomorrow’s great,” I said with enough enthusiasm for both of us.
“Luigi’s?”
“No way. Neither of us need therapy.” That was a lie. “Let’s go somewhere different. Since you’re leaving, let me surprise you. It’ll be fun.”
“I’ll drive. I don’t feel like contorting myself into your car.” Angus smiled. It was so lovely, I felt a clutch in my stomach.
We stepped out into the angled, evening sunshine and hesitated on the sidewalk. “Where’s your car?” Angus asked.
“It’s over there.”
“Do you want me to walk you?”
“That’s okay, it’s still light.” As soon as the words were out of my mouth, I wanted to take them back. I needed to take advantage of every minute I had with him.
“All right. I’ll see you tomorrow.”
“See you.”
Angus didn’t move when I started walking away. I crossed the road and found my car in the visitor parking lot. I glanced back to see which way Angus had gone, but he was still standing there watching me. It wasn’t until I waved that he turned and walked away.
