It’s the season of giving….and that giving includes giving germs to each other! I am a preschool teacher, and you can believe me when I say those kids love sharing their germs. Oh, they don’t like sharing anything else, but they will gladly cough right in your face to share their colds. For our Christmas program, my class sang “I Got a Cold for Christmas.” How true that is! This time of the year colds and flu go around. You just can’t avoid it. No matter where you go, people are coughing and sneezing.

It’s bad enough battling a cold or the flu, but then add the fact that you have to make a doctor appointment and go out when you’re feeling awful just adds insult to injury. Wouldn’t you rather stay inside your own home and see a doctor from the comfort of your bed or couch? You can. Doctor on Demand  is a telemedicine service that has highly trained, board-certified physicians who can treat a host of conditions. You may wonder what some of those conditions are.

Here is a list of some of the things they can treat:

  • Cold & Flu
  • Sore Throat
  • UTIs
  • Skin Issues & Rashes
  • Diarrhea & Vomiting
  • Eye Issues
  • Sports Injuries
  • Travel Illness
  • Smoking Cessation

So how do you know if you’ve got a cold or if it is the flu? Here are some ways to tell the difference:

COLD SYMPTOMS FLU SYMPTOMS
Cold symptoms appear 2 to 3 days after infection, and last anywhere from 7 to 14 days. Some of the most common cold symptoms are:

  • Sore throat
  • Nasal Congestion
  • Cough
  • Runny Nose
  • Chest Congestion
  • Sneezing
Flu symptoms are apparent and usually severe; especially fever. The first symptom appears immediately and can subside within a few days. Some of the most common symptoms of flu are:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle Pain
  • Sore Throat
  • Cough

I tried Doctor on Demand for sinus pain and pressure. My throat hurts. I look horrible…. In other words, those kids gave me their colds! The doctor asked about my symptoms and looked at my throat through the webcam. He sent in a prescription for me to get at my local drugstore if my symptoms last for more than 7 days. Since it’s been only 4 days, I’m hoping it will go away before then. In the meantime, he told me what over-the-counter products I can use to get relief. I’m drinking tea and orange juice and trying to rest…though rest is hard to come by! You know what I mean!

I really love the services Doctor on Demand provide. It is so much more convenient visiting a doctor from your home. You don’t have a long wait in the waiting room where you are exposed to even more germs. After having been seen by this doctor, I feel like I’ve been given good advice. I will wait to see if I start feeling better after a few more days. If I don’t, I know that it is probably a bacterial infection that needs an antibiotic. I’ve got peace of mind knowing that the doctors from Doctor on Demand are available all year long even on holidays.

I am sure that I will use this service again in the future. You can try Doctor on Demand free too! Just use my coupon code COZY15 and get to see the doctor free of charge. They also work with insurance companies, so check them out the next time you need seen!

I LOVE this new wave of the future for doctor appointments. I hate leaving my house when I’m sick! BTW, I work in the nursery at church on Sundays, and I swear it’s a hot bed of germs in there! Here’s to boosting our immune systems!!
