It is finally summer which means it is time to plan a weekend getaway. I know planning can get stressful, but I’ve got a list of essentials to make your packing easier. With these “must-have” travel items, the fear of forgetting something won’t put a damper on your travels plans. Whether you’re heading on a road trip or a beach getaway, be sure to pack smart and have a summer worth remembering!
Weekend getaway essentials
Bathing Suit, T-Shirt and Shorts
Whether you’re headed to the beach, pool, or just want to soak up the sun, you’re going to need a bathing suit. Add a t-shirt and a pair of shorts, and you’re good to go.
Cute Jacket
Hot summer days can quickly turn into chilly nights. Add an extra layer in the evening to keep you warm while still looking fashionable.
Cute Sandals and Comfy Shoes
These shoes are a must for any warm weather vacation. I always take my flip-flops and another pair of cute sandals. Be sure to pack some comfy shoes too if you plan on doing much walking!
Speaking of walking, when my kids and I visited the Magic Kingdom and Epcot in one day, I could have used Airplus Memory Plus Insoles to keep my feet comfy while walking around! And afterwards, I would have loved to slip my feet into Airplus’ Aloe Infused Socks. They are so soft, and they’re infused with aloe and Vitamin E for a soothing texture.
Cute PJs
Yeah, you’ll be out all day, but you’ve got to sleep sometime! You may as well look comfy and cute in a pajama short set.
Anti-Aging Moisturizer
I love this one from L’Oreal. I was recently able to try it through Influenster. It is a luxurious, lightweight cream that helps transform the look of aging skin by working both on skin’s surface and deep within.
The Itch Eraser
I think this commercial is so funny! Plus it tells you all you need to know about The Itch Eraser in 30 seconds. Watch it, and you’ll know why you need to pack some for your getaway.
The Itch Eraser is available at Rite Aid, HEB Groceries, Kinney Drugs, Wegmans, Harmon, Hannaford, Bass Pro, Shopko Grocery, and at theitcheraser.com.
Sunglasses, Sunscreen and a Hat
Protect your skin from sun damage by applying SPF 30 or higher before going outdoors. Don’t forget to reapply. And whether your style is a baseball cap or oversized floppy hat, don’t forget to pack a hat and some sunglasses to protect eyes and the delicate area around the eyes from harsh sun rays.
Summer’s Eve Cleansing Cloths
When you’re taking a weekend getaway, there are bound to be times you’re not feeling fresh. Summer’s Eve Cleansing Cloths provide an easy and discreet way to feel confidently fresh. They’re so convenient to pack and take along with you on your trip. The cloths are lightly fragranced and quickly wipe away odor-causing bacteria. These cleansing cloths are available in scents like Aloe Love, Island Splash, Sheer Floral, and Simply Sensitive. You can purchase them from Amazon, Walgreens, CVS, and Walmart.
Rechargeable Portable Charger
If you’ve ever been on a trip where you didn’t have access to your phone charger, you will really appreciate the HubXtra Portable Charger. It has happened to me! My battery was dying while I was on a press trip, and it was really embarrassing! Thankfully that won’t happen again. Now that I’ve got this to pack for my getaways, I’ll never have to worry about my phone running out of juice!
The new myCharge HubExtra 4400mAh portable charger is the quintessential power bank. With an integrated Apple® Lightning™ cable and an integrated micro-USB cable, staying charged on the go has never been easier. Carrying cables is a thing of the past. The cables built in for effortless charging and wall prongs are built-in for effortless recharging.
Heliocare® Daily Use Antioxidant Formula
Heliocare is a clinically proven, dermatologist-recommended, natural dietary supplement that contains Fernblock® PLE Technology. This is a powerful antioxidant formula that aids in eliminating free radicals caused by factors you may encounter during your weekend getaway. Those factors include pollution, sun exposure, certain foods, excessive alcohol and even exercise. Now vegan and free of gluten and artificial dyes, Heliocare capsules have antioxidant effects to maintain younger-looking, more resilient skin*.
A Beach Read
I love reading, and in the summer I love to read Elin Hilderbrand! I’m so excited that I won a copy of her latest book, The Identicals.
Identical twin sisters who couldn’t look more alike…or live more differently.
Harper Frost is laid-back, easygoing. She doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. She likes a beer and a shot and wouldn’t be caught dead wearing anything fashionable. She’s inherited her father’s rundown house on Martha’s Vineyard, but she can’t hold down a job, and her latest romantic disaster has the entire island talking.
Two beautiful islands only eleven miles apart.
Tabitha Frost is dignified, refined. She prefers a fine wine and has inherited the impeccable taste of her mother, the iconic fashion designer Eleanor Roxie-Frost. She’s also inherited her mother’s questionable parenting skills–Tabitha’s teenage daughter, Ainsley, is in full rebellion mode–and a flailing fashion boutique on Nantucket in desperate need of a cash infusion.
One unforgettable summer that will change their lives forever.
After more than a decade apart, Harper and Tabitha switch islands–and lives–to save what’s left of their splintered family. But the twins quickly discover that the secrets, lies, and gossip they thought they’d outrun can travel between islands just as easily as they can. Will Harper and Tabitha be able to bury the hatchet and end their sibling rivalry once and for all? Before the last beach picnic of the season, there will be enough old resentments, new loves, and cases of mistaken identity to make this the most talked-about summer that Martha’s Vineyard and Nantucket have experienced in ages.
