I received this free Droid Inventor Kit as part of the Thor: Ragnarok Event. All opinions are mine.
STEAM
STEM and STEAM are big buzzwords in education these days. Schools are putting more focus on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math, but we don’t want to leave the Arts behind. littleBits Droid Inventor Kit is the perfect way for you to include STEAM learning at home. littleBits wants to emphasize that they are all about STEAM!
“We believe in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math — but also crucially Art. It’s a movement championed by the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) and adopted by institutions worldwide. Because of a focus on the arts, our STEAM Student Set can be used from math class to entrepreneurship to grammar to robotics.” (source: littleBits)
littleBits
During my recent Disney press trip, I got to meet two incredible women who shared all about littleBits and the company’s founder and CEO Ayah Bdeir. If you watch TED Talks, you may have seen her sharing her passion for making technology understandable and accessible to everyone.
A great thing about littleBits is that it is Open Source. This means their designs are publicly available. They have lesson plans that educators can use in their classrooms, but you don’t have to be an educator to access the designs. I think that’s amazing. Yes, you’ve got to purchase the littleBits, but then there is an entire world of possibilities out there for you and your kids for free!
I got to play and create with the Droid Inventor Kit during the press trip. These are so cool! I am looking forward to sharing mine with my nephews and nieces. They are going to have a blast just like I did!
