My Review

Angel on Assignment is a sweet book that your children will enjoy all year, not just during the holidays. It reminds us that God sends angels into our lives to help protect us. Just like the angels who were on assignment to tell the shepherds that Jesus had been born, there are angels on assignment just for us!

I love the rhyming text as well as the simple illustrations that bring Angel on Assignment to life. Instructions for making your own angel to sit on your shelf are included. Your angel can remind you that God is always looking out for you and sends his angels to watch over you.

It’s almost that time of year when you simply can’t turn on social media without seeing elf shenanigans…  I’m not pointing fingers as I too was guilty…

We had an elf delivered to our house. Her name was Annie.  She was a slacker elf …or was it me…!?!?

My youngest of five had been diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome (a rare incurable seizure disorder resistant to medication). I was utterly exhausted as seizure watch was a 24/7 job, not to mention homeschooling and trying to keep up with four older kids.

Our elf Annie lay on the dining room table lifting marshmallow weights for three days… and then slept for two…  A text message to my older son asking him to move her would be read by little eyes and her magic disappeared that night…

Just like that it was over! I was a bit relieved for I simply couldn’t keep up.

I realized a bit of Christmas had been hi-jacked and I was going to take it back!

Time is limited when dealing with a little one with special needs…  SO, the time we spent needed to really count towards the most important things in life – eternal things.

We needed a different tradition in our house. One that my little girl would never outgrow… That would remain true… And that would plant seeds in her heart that would grow into knowing the God of the angels…

That Christmas Angel on Assignment was born.
