Welcome to week two of celebrating Pixar Fest at home! If you missed TOY STORY last week, go back and get a Sheriff Woody Printable Word Search and links to a craft from Life, Family, Joy and a Disney Bounding outfit from They Call Me T. This week we are celebrating Pixar Fest with A BUG’S LIFE. I’ve got ants on a log, Dwan has a green smoothie and some printables and Tapanga has A BUG’S LIFE Disney Bounding “Dot” outfit. Check out the links at the bottom!
A Bug’s Life
Embark on an incredible journey with one little ant as he searches for a brave band of warriors to help him battle the bullying grasshoppers who threaten his home. When he stumbles on a bumbling troupe of circus bugs instead, their only hope for victory is the bond of friendship and the awesome power of imagination.
My “kids” and I just watched A BUG’S LIFE again today, and it is just as funny as I remember. It’s been years since we have watched this movie. When I looked at the release date, I just gasped. 20 years (in November). I can’t even. How does time go so quickly? If you have little ones and they haven’t seen this movie yet, it is time for them to see it! It is timeless. The message of friendship and imagination will never grow old.
It amazes me that some of you probably saw this as a child and now have children yourselves! Watch it again as an adult, and you’ll have an even better appreciation for the humor that Pixar throws in for parents. The “outtakes” are so funny as is the short that ran with A BUG’S LIFE called Geri’s Game.
Speaking of shorts, At Pixar Fest, guests can rediscover the amazing Pixar Shorts on the big screen at the Sunset Showcase Theater in Hollywood Land in Disney California Adventure. Throughout Pixar Fest, the theater will feature rotating favorites such as “For the Birds” and “Lava”.
For this week’s at home celebration, I’m sharing a simple snack that you can make with your kids to enjoy while watching A BUG’S LIFE.
Flik’s Fabulous Ants on a Log
What makes these fabulous? The chocolate covered fruit! I do not like raisins. I can sometimes eat them in cookies, but I’m not a fan. I will, however, eat chocolate covered blueberries and pomegranate which is what these “ants” are.
Yes, that IS a VHS tape! We’ve got all our old Disney VHS movies. I just can’t get rid of them. Find your favorite chocolate covered fruit and make this yummy and super easy ants on a log snack!
You can make these ants on a log on a banana if your child is too little to eat celery. You can also use cream cheese instead of peanut butter if you’ve got a peanut allergy! Make it your own!
