Happy summer, everyone! Do you have any fun plans for this summer? We’re sticking close to home this summer. So far my summer fun has included a trip to a local fair (and eating an entire funnel cake and 5 fried Oreos by myself) and a Cleveland Cavaliers watch party. We’re planning to go to the Cleveland Zoo in the next few weeks. We’re also looking forward to spending a week watching sharks take over the TV next month (you know, THAT week!).

I’ve definitely grown to love sharks over the past few years, thanks to getting to watch them and learn about them every summer. Did you know that for every human killed by a shark, humans kill two million sharks? Education about sharks can save both human lives and shark lives, which is why I am grateful we have a week dedicated to educating people about sharks.

Guys, I might be 23 years old, and when my mom asked me if I wanted some stuffed sharks, you can bet I screamed “YES!” You can also bet that I waited anxiously for said sharks to arrive at my house.

Alex Brands Knot-a-Shark

I love blankets. You would think my family is a blanket hoarder if you came to my house. (We may in fact be blanket hoarders.) I was super excited to receive this Alex Brands DIY Knot-a-Shark climb-in-blanket! This product is not only great for Shark Week, it’s also great to keep your kids (or yourself!) entertained during the summer. Let’s face it: there are a lot of fun things to do over the summer, but there can also be enough downtime to cause boredom. Fight the boredom by knotting your own blanket!

And can you imagine all of the fun photo-ops with this climb-in shark blanket? I’m 23 years old and you can bet I’m gonna act like I’m being eaten by a shark when I finally finish this project.

Promoting Shark Education

We can save both shark lives and human lives by learning more about sharks. Children are more likely to want to learn more about something that interests them, which is why I believe these shark toys from both Wild Republic and Alex Brands are great.
