How do you celebrate Easter with your families? Do you have Easter traditions that you used to do as a child that you still do now? I do! We color eggs, hide Easter baskets, go to church and go to grandma and grandpa’s house for a big Easter meal. When I was a little girl, we did the same things. Now, my parent’s are grandma and grandpa (and have been for 25 years!), and one of these days, I’ll be grandma with grandchildren coming over to my house.
Easter Traditions
Catholic Central sponsored this post. I received the same basket as the one in this giveaway. All opinions are mine.
I’m going to share some pictures of our Easter traditions, and I’ve got a great downloadable for you too!
I am an April baby. My birthday is April 19th, and once in a great while, Easter falls on my birthday. Well. I was going through my old pictures, and I found the Easter that I was 3 years old. My mom was 8 months pregnant with my sister. So, as I’m browsing these pictures (below), I’m thinking, “Man, I sure was spoiled before I had any siblings! Look at all of the stuff I got.” Then I flipped through a few more pictures and realized that Easter must have fallen on my birthday that year. And here I was thinking that my sisters ruined my spoiled status as an only child. I guess I can’t blame them….
Easter 1973
Please ignore the quality of these pictures. The 70s were a long time ago!
Let’s just break these pictures down. Do you see that dollhouse in the first picture? Yep, I sure loved it. Enter two more sisters…that dollhouse did not survive them.
Now do you understand why I thought I was having such an amazing Easter? I had so many presents for Easter…nope, it’s my birthday too.
Okay, I am literally crying over that first picture. Just look at how we are looking at each other. I was grandma’s girl my entire life. My mom says I would cry so much when she and grandpa left, that grandma would drive me around the block, so I’d stop crying! Grandma and I had a bond; we were kindred spirits. I am so glad that I have that picture even though it’s ancient! Then the second picture is my Easter dress! Totally adorable right?
I want some cake now! I do actually remember that cake, but I don’t remember anything else about that day. The cake is so cute, but I remember not liking the licorice strings or the candy balloons. I still won’t eat licorice or Twizzlers!

I dye hard boiled eggs with my 2 daughters. I also make a traditional Easter brunch for my family. We also go to the annual Spring Fling Festival hosted by my Moms Club.
We go to church 🙂
For easter we do a family dinner and an egg hunt for the kids
I go to dinner at my moms home with the family
We hide dyed eggs for the grandkids every year, going on 12 years now. We mixed a few plastic ones in there with candy or money in them as well.
Chocolate bunnies and coloring Easter eggs!
Even though children are all grown, youngest grandchild is 15, oldest is 29, and two great grands, ages 7.5 and 9, we still color Easter eggs, make baskets for everyone who might stop by and fix a big dinner. This year I’m a little slower moving…lol…opted to have a hip replaced, then two weeks later, the therapist broke the remaining bone….long story…but it included a second major surgery to wire things back together! So my first back to the kitchen foray will be Easter. I’ll have the help of grown kids…but I’ll still do the ham, and the cheesecake! And of course through out and definitely underscored, is the reason we celebrate Easter!
Oh no! I’m sorry about your hip! At least you’ve got a good attitude about it! It sounds like you’ll have a wonderful Easter!
We have the children go egg hunting, we paint eggs, have a huge family dinner and just give thanks .

That’s the best way to celebrate!
Growing up was dyed we dyed Easter eggs, had new clothes for church and went to church. We always had Easter baskets also. Now my daughter and I exchange Easter candy. I am the only one who goes to church then.
Aww! I hope she goes with you sometime.
We like to open our Easter baskets, have an egg hunt and then enjoy a nice ham dinner with our family.
Im a grandma and we color eggs and hunt for them. The Easter bunny comes and fills a basket for my grandson. We will all have a good meal tomorrow.
When I was growing up it was dying eggs on Saturday, church and hunting them on Sunday.
When my children were younger I always made a lovely Easter Basket for them. Then we would get together for Easter dinner with family.
My tradition is dinner with friends.
We go to church together and then have a family dinner.
We enjoy an egg hunt and brunch.
We do a lunch for Easter with the family and we dye eggs and hide them for the kids.
Easter lunch
we celebrate twice, because half of our family is Catholic and another half is Orthodox, because of some differences in church calendars
The family comes over and we eat dinner and watch movies afterwards.
