Thanks for sharing!

One of the hardest things about owning a family dog is knowing how to keep them safe in your own home. Although you try do everything you can to keep them safe, there are lots of ways for your furry friend to get themselves into trouble. From escaping when you open the door to getting into the cupboards, you need to be sure you’re doing everything you can to protect them. With that in mind, here are 5 ways to keep your dog safe at home.

– Make Sure They Have Enough Food And Drink

One of the best ways to keep your dog safe at home is to make sure they have enough food and drink. Although you don’t need to keep their food bowl kept topped up at all hours of the day, you do need to ensure they have fresh water whenever they need it. Whether this means topping it up every few hours or buying a water fountain that circulates the water, you want to ensure your dog is never dehydrated. For dog water bowls, you can visit this site here.

– Ensure They Can’t Escape From Your Garden

Although they may get regular walks throughout the day, your dog may try to escape through your front door or your garden. Whilst this doesn’t mean they don’t enjoy living with you, it does mean that they want to spend more time outside. If you want to allow your dog more time outside without having to worry about them escaping, you might want to consider looking at an invisible dog fence company.

– Give Them Plenty Of Toys To Play With

When it comes to your dog’s health, you also need to be thinking about their mental health. One of the best ways to do this, of course, is to ensure they have lots of toys to play with. Dogs need lots of love and attention and if they’re surrounded by toys, they’ll be happy. For a guide to buying dog toys, you can visit this site here.

– Keep Toxic Items Well Away From Them

If you have toxic items in your home, whether it be food or chemicals, you need to ensure you’re keeping it out of reach of your dog. Whether this means investing in locks for your cupboards or storing them in a place they can’t reach, the harder they are to reach the better.

– Lock Them Out Of Spaces That May Cause Them Harm

Finally, you need to be sure you’re locking your dog out of rooms that may cause them harm. Whilst this may mean a number of your rooms are out of bounds, your dog’s health should be your first priority. If you’re worried about blocking off rooms, you may need to invest in a number of stair gates and barriers.
