As we sail through this life, we’re constantly told not to take certain things for granted. We’re living in a pretty great time right now (even though it may not seem like it), and it’s so easy to bypass lots of amazing things. It’s pretty easy to do, to be fair. We have lots of other stresses and strains in life, and we need to focus most of our attention on those. Our brains can only process so much at one time!
We do have an awful lot of precious little aspects in this life, however – things that, if they disappeared tomorrow, would impact us massively. We all have different things we value, but here are five facets of life that we should all cherish and make the most of.
Friends And Family
This is something that shouldn’t really be talked about but needs to be. Friends and family are seemingly always there for us, but that unconditional love can vanish very quickly. You need to cherish those around you while you have them – being alone and isolated is not a great feeling. Loneliness is a situation that makes you feel worthless and plays havoc with your self-esteem. Don’t take people for granted; they’re pretty important to everything you do.
Our Hearing
Without functioning ears, the majority of us would be in such a bad state. You have to show nothing but respect for the deaf community and those who are hard of hearing. Just functioning day-to-day can be super difficult. You then have to think about the likes of the hearing aids, and the technical stuff regarding them, such as the batteries (learn more) and the maintenance.
Experiences
Life is all about moments. There are other intangible things that we all care about, but, at the end of the day, what you do practical and what you experience are what matters. When you’re experiencing something unbelievable, you need to make the most of it because you never know what might happen.
Technology
We’re living in a stupidly advanced time. So many services are just a couple of buttons away, and the products we have in our homes are so convenient. If you’re of an older generation, then you probably have no issue with a more modest and understanding perspective. If you’re younger, however, then you’re probably spoiled rotten and don’t realize how amazing all of this stuff is. Go a week without some of your fancy tech, and see just how difficult things will be for you!
Our Freedom
This final one is a pretty deep one, but it’s something that’s absolutely true. While we’re all technically free and should be allowed to roam wherever we like, that’s not the case everywhere. We have freedom of speech, freedom of religion; we’re free to travel – and a bunch of others. There are countries on this planet that don’t have that kind of luxury. Because it’s all we know; we don’t see just how much of a privilege it actually is.
