It’s Flash’s first day on the job as a little fire engine—and it’s going to be a busy one! But Flash is ready to jump into action and save the day. The only problem is, every time Flash tries to pitch in, he is either too little or too late to help out. What if no one needs him? When a fire erupts in the middle of town, it looks like Flash might be the only one available to help. Does he have what it takes to save the day?

My Review of Flash, The Little Fire Engine

If you’ve got little ones who love fire engines and fire fighters, Flash, The Little Fire Engine should be on your list of books to read to them.

Flash is finally old enough to help fight fires, so when the first alarm rings, he rushes to the scene of the fire. But when he gets to the fire, he finds out that he’s not the right kind of fire engine for the job. Poor Flash! Well, this happens a few more times, but finally Flash gets his chance to save the day.

This book is great for teaching kids that we’re all unique and have special ways that we can help. Flash isn’t equipped to put out a plane on fire. I’m not equipped to change my oil! I’d be lost if I had to replace my plumbing. We’ve all got special qualities, and we should be proud of that.

Flash is willing to help when there is a need, but he can’t help in all situations. That’s the same with us! We might want to go build homes that have been destroyed by a hurricane, but we’re not all equipped to do that job. So, we can find other ways to help.

These are all topics you can discuss with your little ones when you read Flash, The Little Fire Engine together.
