Ways to Make Laundry An Easier Chore

Cleaning and Organizing

Thanks for sharing!

One of the most time-consuming tasks is cleaning your home, and while it’s one of those things that need doing, we wish they were ways to simplify it. There are so many aspects of cleaning the home that it feels nonstop. Case in point: doing laundry. As soon as that basket empties, it fills back up again! So, are there any ways to make laundry an easier chore? Yes!

Do separate loads for each person in the house

Sorting out the clothes that belong to each person is time consuming! You can avoid this issue by giving each person in the house their own laundry basket. Rather than using one, you can have a handful of woven baskets, which, at the very least, makes your kitchen or laundry room look a little bit rustic.

You can even use these baskets before putting everything in the washer and dryer. Sorting clothes by color is another time-consuming aspect. If you don’t want to do separate loads for each person, get a handful of baskets that comprise certain categories: whites, darks, and colors.

Do laundry more often

It doesn’t sound ideal. But if you hate doing laundry, and leave it all pile up, getting into the habit of doing smaller loads throughout the week will make it less of a chore. This way your weekends will be free for fun activities. On the other hand, if you feel that by doing it this way you are forever doing laundry and there is no let-up, cut it back to two or three times a week. But if you’ve got a big household, there will be a lot of laundry to do.

Make doing laundry more fun

This can be applied to any household tasks. If something doesn’t feel fun, perhaps you can take the frustration out of the task by doing other things at the same time. You don’t have to just focus on doing the laundry. Use this time as an excuse to be by yourself and listen to a podcast or have a TV on in the corner of the kitchen. That way, you are still getting things done, but you don’t have to focus on how mind-numbing the task really is!

In fact, there are many different things you can do to while doing the laundry, that you could find yourself being more productive. If you get into the habit of dictating notes on your phone, you can do shopping lists, make to-do lists, or if inspiration strikes, you can make notes for what to get the kids for Christmas.

Embrace these hacks

There are a few handy hacks to make doing laundry easier. You could put socks in mesh bags, so they’re all in one place as soon as they come out of the machine. Also, turn clothes the right side out before folding, or leave the washer door ajar after each load, keeping it fresh. There are plenty of hacks out there! You’ve just got to look!
