When Bria Landon and her estranged father each inherit fifty percent of a small-town cupcake shop, her dad hires her worst enemy, and first love, to turn the place into a soulless franchise…or sell it.

To save her aunt’s legacy, Bria needs the help of people who love the bakery as much as she does—her old friends who worked there fifteen years ago. Except each woman is dealing with her own problem:

Juliet, who’s trying to prove she’s more than a trophy wife; Missy, a widow who fears losing the job she loves; Nell, who’s meddling mother won’t stop playing matchmaker; and Selena, a life coach who excels at fixing everyone else’s lives…but hasn’t a clue what’s missing in her own.

Each woman wants to believe their friendship can overcome anything. But as the Berry Lake Cupcake Posse reunite to save their beloved cupcake shop, they soon discover the undertaking will bring more trouble than they expected.

My review of Cupcakes & Crumbs

Cupcakes & Crumbs is an adorable, heartwarming book in which five women are reunited by a death and cupcakes. Bria’s aunt owned the Berry Lake Cupcake shop for many years. One special summer these five women worked together in the cupcake shop and were lovingly nicknamed “The Cupcake Posse” by Bria’s aunt. But 15 years have passed and the women have lost touch. Nell initiates a gathering of the five women for coffee and cupcakes. That gathering reunites and reignites the friendship that they formed years ago.

Though the story is tied together by Bria’s aunt’s passing, the book isn’t solely about Bria. It’s about all five women, and the author gives each character so much depth. I’ll admit that at first I wasn’t sure if I was going to connect to the characters or the book because I had five women to keep straight. So, if you find yourself feeling the same way when you start, keep going! Trust me. Once I got going, I could not put the book down!

These characters have so much depth. I appreciate how diverse the author made them. They’re not perfect, and they’ve got tough things to deal with. I love how, once they reconnect, they help each other deal with the tough stuff. It doesn’t matter how much time has passed. The bond they formed years ago is strengthened when they get back together.

Fair warning: Cupcakes & Crumbs isn’t a stand-alone story. It’s just the beginning, and it’ll leave you hanging on lots of things! However, you just have to read it. I had tears in my eyes more than once while I was reading. It’s not all sunshine and roses but neither is “real” life. Oh, and another fair warning….you’re going to want cupcakes, so be prepared. I wasn’t, and I regret it! I’m going to have to head to a bakery tomorrow and indulge in one.

I can’t recommend Cupcakes & Crumbs enough! Anyone who loves women’s fiction with lots of real life issues, a little romance, and a lot of heartwarming moments will love this book.
