Set at Christmas time, GODMOTHERED is a comedy about Eleanor, a young, inexperienced fairy godmother-in-training (Jillian Bell), who upon hearing that her chosen profession is facing extinction, decides to show the world that people still need fairy godmothers.
Godmothered
Finding a mislaid letter from a 10-year-old girl in distress, Eleanor tracks her down and discovers that the girl, Mackenzie, is now a 40-year-old single mom (Isla Fisher) working at a news station in Boston.
Having lost her husband several years earlier, Mackenzie has all but given up on the idea of “happily ever after,” but Eleanor is bound and determined to give Mackenzie a happiness makeover, whether she likes it or not.

What I though about GODMOTHERED (no spoilers!)
If you’ve got Disney+ (and why wouldn’t you have it?!), mark your calendars, set an alarm, tie a string around your finger…just remember to watch GODMOTHERED this Friday, December 4, 2020.
GODMOTHERED is an adorable movie for all ages and just about everyone in your family will love it (I can’t guarantee that all of your cranky teens will watch a movie with the whole family….). I fell completely in love with the story.
Eleanor is a fairy godmother in training. Yes, even fairy godmothers have school! But when she finds out that the world no longer thinks it needs fairy godmothers, she’s got to act quickly!
She searches for and comes upon a letter from a ten year old little girl who needs a fairy godmother! Of course, Eleanor is ecstatic thinking she’s found a candidate for her fairy godmothering. Imagine her surprise when her candidate is OLD!
However, now Eleanor is in our world with no where to stay and no clue as to how our world works! Mackenzie, the now old (40 is so old, right?) 10 year old, allows her to stay for one day. One day? That’s not enough time! As events unfold the following morning, Mackenzie’s daughters and sister know that something is up…I mean it’s not everyday you wake up to find a fairy godmother in training in your house.
It’s what we need in 2020!
GODMOTHERED is filled with laugh out loud moments and moments that just may bring tears to your eyes. As someone who has also lost her husband at a young age, I get how Mackenzie is afraid to look for happily ever after. My kids weren’t as young as these girls are when they lost their dad but they were still teenagers. Like Mackenzie, it was easy to lose my “happy.” I love that Eleanor’s arrival allows this little family to talk more about their feelings and about that loss.
GODMOTHERED is a funny, heartwarming movie, and I can’t wait to hear what you all think! I know I’ll be watching it again during this holiday season. We could all use some happiness this year, and this movie is the “happy” we need.
If you don’t have Disney+, you can sign up for $6.99 a month or $69.99 for an entire year! Sign up soon, watch GODMOTHERED, and get your happy on!
