Livable Luxury
Many of the luxuries we have come to expect over the years we denied to us in the previous twelve months. This like luxury travel, luxury dining, and luxury spas. Instead we have had to stay indoors and look for socially acceptable ways to enjoy our lives.
It’s no surprise then that livable luxury has become an interior design feature of recent months. It refers to luxury materials, fabrics, upholstery and furniture items that we wouldn’t normally splash out on. These luxuries are livable because they are allowed to be used on a daily basis.
This Year’s Color
At the beginning of each year the famous color company Pantone releases their annual color that’s voted on by industry experts. These experts understand the color trends in a diverse range of industries from fashion to entertainment. The color scheme is infectious and influences homes around the world.
This year Pantone’s color scheme is Ultimate grey and illuminating yellow. The scheme is stark and arresting but contrasts well and would suit an active space where attention is needed. Perhaps this is part of the thinking behind this super motivational idea that is perfect for a home office or living room.
Indoor Plants
Indoor plants have always been popular in some quarters. Those with green fingers enjoy keeping green plants in their homes and tending them with care and enthusiasm. On the other hand many people prefer to keep their plants in the garden and the indoor space for ornaments instead.
This winter, however, there is a change of heart, especially from the latter group. Indoor plants are excellent for the air and with for much time spent indoors the need to purify it is greater than ever. This winter choose a selection of indoor plants and trees to keep your air fresh and purified.
Plaid Fabrics
Some things never really go out of style, denim is one of them, smock dresses are another. In terms of home decor, you will never go wrong with plaid fabric. Plaid fabric is very traditional, used in country homes and Royal palaces for centuries.
The fashion, however, comes and goes but it never really disappears entirely. Even if plaid is not in fashion, like it is now, you would not think twice about sitting on a plaid sofa in your neighbor’s home. If you’re in the market for modern couches this winter, consider a plaid one for the long term.
Multipurpose Spaces
The pandemic has taught us many things about how we live and work, and about what’s important in life. It has also taught us how to live in reduced spaces and in reduced conditions. Having to adjust to new living and working spaces we have managed to make the most of what space we have.
The last twelve months, however, have been quite haphazard as we sought to quickly rearrange our lives. Now there is more intention behind our choice and we recognize the benefits of utilizing space with multipurpose furniture. Think bureaus and fold away tables this winter to revamp your home.
