We’re back in the magical town of Destiny Falls in Witches, Spiders, and Schemes. But, clearly something is wrong. Rather than the beautiful and charming Destiny Falls Hayden has become used to, the town seems to be falling apart. Instead of fluffy clouds, the skies are filled with gray, scary clouds. The enchanted shops seem to be losing their magic. In addition to all the strange things that are happening, while hiking, Hayden and Han meet a strange old woman outside of a cave. And the mystery begins…

I loved being back in Destiny Falls in Witches, Spiders, and Schemes. The magical town is mysterious, intriguing and filled with wonderfully descriptive language. The characters are diverse and well-developed. They come to life in the pages of these books. One thing I need to point out is that you really need to read the books in order. The mystery flows throughout the entire series. If this was the first book I read in the series, I’d be totally lost. You won’t “get” how the characters have come together, how the town is enchanted, or how the mystery got to this point. It’s a wonderful series, and the books are quick, page-turning reads. Each book has a conclusion to the side mystery included in them, but you really want to be able to enjoy everything as a whole.

The author has created such an imaginative world in this series. I’ve said it before, but I would love to live in a place like Destiny Falls. Even though I’m way older than Hayden, I can imagine bonding with her as she has with her neighbor and other older characters. I love quirky characters, and there are plenty of them in this cozy mystery. And as a crazy cat lady myself, I love the cats in this series! Latifa, Hayden’s cat, is hilarious, and you will enjoy her unusual traits!

There is so much to love in Witches, Spiders, and Schemes, and I do highly recommend it. I just suggest enjoying the previous books first!
