My review of Her Surprise Hometown Match

The Golden Matchmakers are at it again! So far they’ve successfully matched 3 couples in the small town of Golden. Their motivation? Making sure Golden stays a thriving community so young families won’t leave Golden. I’d say that’s a very good reason!

In Her Surprise Hometown Match, the matchmakers have their sights set on longtime resident Juliette Bishop and newcomer Ty Pendergrass. As it turns out, the two first meet without any help from the matchmakers, and their meet cute is hilarious! However, the matchmakers do assure that the two have further interactions, hoping the two will hit it off.

I enjoyed getting to know Juliette and Ty as well as their families. Juliette carries around a lot of guilt that may seem misplaced to us, but to her it’s very real. Since it involves an incident from her teenage years, she most likely let the guilt grow into something bigger than she could handle. As an adult, I felt her guilt was irrational; however, thinking back to when I was 15, I probably would have let the incident grow into something bigger too. Since the entire town believes she’s a hero, she’s spent the last 15 years trying to live up to that title. And she really is a hero for her big heart and her willingness to help anyone who needs it. Ty is charming and handsome, yet when he’s around Juliette, he becomes so much more. He puts family first, and he’s willing to sacrifice his happiness for his family.

All in all, Her Surprise Hometown Match is an enjoyable, page-turning book. I enjoy books in the Harlequin Heartwarming line since they are sweet and clean romances. If you’re a voracious reader like I am, you’ll easily read it in a day or two. The characters, setting, and sweet romance will quickly draw you in. I’m looking forward to seeing who the matchmakers set their sights on next!
