Cat House (Crazy Cat Lady Mystery)

by Mollie Hunt

Cat House (Crazy Cat Lady Mystery)
Cozy Cat Mystery
10th in Series
Setting – Portland, Oregon
Independently Published (October 29, 2023)
Number of Pages: 255

This Halloween, the cats are hiding, and the monsters don’t wear costumes.

Young men from the Portland-Seattle area are going missing. It’s just another sad headline to Lynley Cannon—until she starts her new cat sitting job for an enigmatic neighbor Darla, that is.

An off-limits room, a suspicious phone message involving drugs, and the sudden appearance of a missing man’s cat peaks Lynley’s interest, but how far can she go before her cat-like curiosity turns deadly?

My review of Cat House

Cat House by Mollie Hunt is the tenth book in the Crazy Cat Lady Mystery series, but you can jump right in with this book without reading the previous books. I’ve read a few of them but not all, and I have enjoyed each one. Cat House is such an enjoyable read. It’s set during the Halloween season and is a great cozy to read on a cool fall night!

In Cat House, Lynly answers an ad for someone needing a cat sitter. Lynly is intrigued by the ad because it happens to be for the “cat house.” It’s what she’s named a house around the block since she always sees lots of cats in the catio attached to the house. She’s hired by the quirky owner, Darla. While Lynly cat-sits, some strange things happen, and Lynly wonders if Darla really is as nice as she seems.

I loved Cat House! It’s one of those cozy mystery books that feel really “cozy.” It’s the kind of cozy that makes you want to snuggle with a warm blanket with a cup of tea and a cat on your lap while you’re reading. It’s set in Portland, Oregon during the fall, so it’s chilly, dark, and rainy; this perfectly sets the mood for the book. I love the detailed descriptions the author uses. You can see, hear, (almost) taste, smell, and touch while you read.

The characters in Cat House are very well-written. I am also a crazy cat lady, so I feel an affinity with Lynly and Darla. I loved Darla’s quirky personality, and I’d love to see her in more books!

The mystery involving missing young men and their cats was great! It was really unique which made it all the more enjoyable. I loved figuring it all out along with Lynly.

I highly recommend Cat House for its cozy feel, lifelike characters, cats, and original mystery! I loved this charming mystery and give it five huge stars!

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
