My review of A Seaside Bookshop Christmas
A Seaside Bookshop Christmas by Jennifer Faye is perfect for those of us who love clean romance books set in a small town with a friends to lovers and single dad tropes. Add the Christmas season, and you’ve got a feel-good, Hallmark-like must read. I’ve read all of the books that Faye has written that are set on Bluestar Island. Though characters from other books appear in A Seaside Bookshop Christmas, it’s a stand-alone book.
The tourist season is over, and Bluestar Island’s full-time residents are preparing for Christmas. It’s twelve days until Christmas, and there are Christmas-y events planned for every day leading up to the big day. Don’t you want to live there?! I do! It’s such a cute, cozy place!
Over the last six months Melinda Coleman, owner of the Seaside Bookshop, has become close friends with Liam Turner. Liam, a builder and furniture maker, is a single dad to a three year old little boy named Tate. He’s currently working for the town Scrooge. Liam wouldn’t have taken the job (that no one else wanted!), but since he’s currently taking time off from his full-time job. Read it if you want to know what that job is and why he’s taking time off! And, trust me, romance lovers. You want to read it!
I adored A Seaside Bookshop Christmas! It’s such a heartwarming story. I really enjoy the friends to lovers trope. Liam and Melinda have known each other for a while, so they’ve had time to talk without pretense. And, everybody who sees them together knows that they’re perfect together. It just takes a little time for them to catch up and realize the same thing!
The characters are well-written and believable. I loved how kind Melinda is to everyone no matter how they treat her. Liam is a great dad. His family is very supportive. And, of course, some of the regulars make appearances. I appreciate that even if you haven’t read the series, you can appreciate these regulars because their personalities are distinct.
I highly recommend A Seaside Bookshop Christmas for its cozy island setting with a close knit community, its well-written characters, and its sweet romance. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this charming series.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
