Killing Grinds (Orchard Hollow Mystery)
Paranormal Cozy Mystery
3rd in Series
Oliver-Heber Books (November 28, 2023)
Paperback ‏ : ‎ 274 pages

Piper Addison is in it deep. Turns out, finding out how your ghost familiar met her doom is not as easy as it sounds…

Tourist season is over and Orchard Hollow is as peaceful as ever. Piper Addison, the town witch and cafe owner, finally gets to kick back her sneakers and relax. The weather is glorious, her dusty love life has been resurrected, and she’s all caught up on binge watching shows. Nothing can be better!

Well, except for one slight problem.

Piper promised her ghost familiar she’d help find out what landed her in the land of the non-living.

It wouldn’t be so bad if the ghost didn’t have a case of amnesia and a serious need of an attitude adjustment. One thing is for certain, Piper’s familiar didn’t kick the bucket by choice.

Between figuring out the mystery of Stella’s demise, battling a raccoon for cookies, and tracing her mom’s steps hoping to reunite with a father she never met; Piper has her hands full. And this time, even her strange magic might not be enough to get her out of this bind.

Killing Grinds is a paranormal cozy mystery complete with an unlucky witch, a ghost familiar, and a feisty raccoon with a talent for getting into sticky situations.

Character Post from Detective Harry Houdini

Trash Talk Detective

Hey dumpster divers and garbage gurus, it’s Harry Houdini, your resident connoisseur of curbside treasures. Today, I’m sharing my expert tips on how to solve a murder in your neck of the woods. Let’s dive paw-first into the wild world of crime-solving!

  1. Blend In Like a Pro

To navigate the mean streets of your quaint small town unnoticed, mastering the art of blending in is crucial. Nighttime excursions are key so stick to the shadows, and always remember to perfect your “innocent scavenger” act. Who would suspect a raccoon just looking for a tasty snack?

  1. Gather the Gossip from the Garbage

Trash bins are the gossip hubs of any town, and we raccoons are the kings and queens of garbage exploration. Hit the hotspots—restaurant dumpsters, residential bins, and, if you’re feeling fancy, a witch’s greenhouse. You never know what secrets might be lurking in that discarded lasagna or the cactus that has seen better days.

  1. Night Vision and Stealth Mode: Activated

When snooping around town after hours, make use of your superior night vision. And if you’ve got a stealthy sidekick (preferably a ghost that you love to hate), bring them along for the adventure. Nothing says “dynamic duo” like a pair of shadowy figures on a mission.

  1. Stakeout Like a Pro

Set up a stakeout in the perfect vantage point: a cozy tree branch, a quiet rooftop, or even the town’s forgotten gazebo. Keep an eye out for any shady characters, strange occurrences, or, in my case, the witch’s new assistant who can’t make a latte to save her life.

  1. Unleash the Trash Talk (Literally)

Sometimes, you’ve got to resort to a bit of trash talk to get the information you need. If a stubborn witness isn’t cooperating, knock over a few garbage cans to get them to spill the beans. Remember, desperate times call for desperate measures.

So, there you have it, aspiring detectives! Follow these tips, trust your instincts, and before you know it, you’ll be the unsung hero of your small town. Stay stealthy, stay curious, and may your nights be filled with cookies.
