A Room For Murder For is Book 4 in The Charlie Kingsley Cozy Novella series by USA Today bestselling author Michele PW (Pariza Wacek). Ideal for cozy mystery fans, especially readers who love clean, twisty and funny cozy mysteries that include tea, pets, baking, small towns and quirky side characters.
Charlie’s very first case!
Normally Darla, the ghost that haunts the Redemption Inn, behaves herself. Relatively speaking.
Nancy, the owner of the Redemption Inn, swears that Darla is harmless. At least, mostly harmless. Maybe she plays a few pranks on some unsuspecting guests, but it’s all in good fun.
Until one of the hotel guests is found dead at the bottom of the stairs, and Darla is the one who’s blamed.
With the threat of guests cancelling and her business on the line, Nancy turns to Charlie to help find the real culprit so Darla can rest in peace.
Meet Charlie. Better known as “Aunt Charlie” from the award-winning Secrets of Redemption series. She’s back, making teas and solving cases in this funny, twisty, cozy mystery series set in the 1990s in Redemption, Wisconsin.

Meet Charlie from A Room For Murder
Let me start by saying that I am thrilled this case is finally being told.
It always felt…unfinished to me that this story wasn’t out there. This was my first case, and it happened completely by accident. I wasn’t looking to become a sleuth. Mostly I was just trying to survive.
My first year in Redemption was a painful one. (If you want to full backstory, you’ll have to read the Secrets of Redemption series. Yes, it’s a psychological thriller series and not a cozy, but it’s still clean.) However, I had survived it, and was now on the other side.
It was time for me to find my place in my new home. My tea business was starting to take off, but I was still struggling to find my community.
Truthfully, I was lonely. My one close friend, Claire, had just given birth and was busy taking care of a newborn, and I hadn’t really made any other friends yet.
So when Nancy needed help, I was more than happy to step in, and in the process, I not only discovered a talent I didn’t know I had, but a friendship with Pat.
And I met Wyle, even though I had a lot of misgivings about him.
Regardless, this story has a special place in my heart. I’m not sure why it took me so long to tell it to Michele. I started with A Grave Error, and then moved to The Murder Before Christmas. Maybe there was still a little bit of pain with this story, as even though it was the beginning, it was also an ending.
My story with The Secrets of Redemption is complete. That chapter is closed. The entire story has been told. And now, it’s time to turn the page and move forward with the Charlie Kingsley Mysteries and everything that’s waiting there.
My review of A Room for Murder
I loved A Room for Murder! I’ve read several books in this series, so it was fun to see how Charlie and Wyle first met and how she made friends with Pat!
If you haven’t read any of this series, you’ll be fine starting here since it’s a prequel. It’s sort of like watching Star Wars 1-3 before 4-6 (I TOTALLY wouldn’t recommend doing that with Star Wars though!). Charlie makes medicinal teas, and she gets involved in this mystery when she gets a late night call from Nancy, the owner of Redemption Inn, asking her to bring some of her headache tea for a guest who took a tumble and hit his head.
Strange things were happening at Redemption Inn, and everything was being attributed to a ghost named Darla! In all of the time Darla had been “haunting” the inn, she wasn’t malicious, and she definitely wouldn’t want to murder anyone. However, she gets the blame when a guest dies. Charlie isn’t convinced that a ghost had anything to do with the murder. Much to Detective Wyle’s dismay, she starts snooping around and eventually helps solve the case.
I highly recommend A Room for Murder! It’s a very quick read, has wonderful characters, and a fun, ghostly mystery! I also recommend the other books in the Charlie Kingsley Mysteries!
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book. All views expressed are only my honest opinion.
About Michele Pariza Wacek
A USA Today Bestselling, award-winning author, Michele taught herself to read at 3 years old because she wanted to write stories so badly. It took some time (and some detours) but now she does spend much of her time writing stories. Mystery stories, to be exact. They’re clean and twisty, and range from psychological thrillers to cozies, with a dash of romance and supernatural thrown into the mix. If that wasn’t enough, she posts lots of fun things on her blog, including short stories, puzzles, recipes and more, at MPWNovels.com.
Michele grew up in Wisconsin, (hence why all her books take place there), and still visits regularly, but she herself escaped the cold and now lives in the mountains of Prescott, Arizona with her husband and southern squirrel hunter Cassie.
When she’s not writing, she’s usually reading, hanging out with her dog, or watching the Food Network and imagining she’s an awesome cook. (Spoiler alert, she’s not. Luckily for the whole family, Mr. PW is in charge of the cooking.)
