The annual Buckeye Trail Town Festival. A trail construction site. And one dead naturalist.

The charming town of Hawthorn Heights is celebrating its connection to the Buckeye Trail with a weekend-long town festival. When a local naturalist is found dead at the bottom of a ravine off the trail, amateur sleuth and garden center manager Molly Green finds herself tangled in a murder investigation – again.

As the Trail Festival concludes, Molly unearths unexpected secrets about the bird-obsessed naturalist’s life along with other people in her small community. When the police focus on who Molly knows is the wrong suspect, she starts her own investigation with her flock of fellow amateur detectives. Will Molly and her team identify the killer or will they fly away free?

Secrets, Songbirds, and Succulents is a heartwarming and suspenseful cozy mystery that will keep readers guessing until the very end. Perfect for fans of small-town mysteries and amateur sleuths with both birding and eco-friendly themes.

The 1st 2 books in this series are on sale for $0.99 each now through February 2: https://amzn.to/4gdFXbA All 3 books can be purchased for under $6.00!

Molly Green Character Guest Post

Hi! I’m Molly Green. Welcome to Patty’s Plant Place. No, I’m not Patty. My Grandma was Patty. My twin sister May and I inherited this garden center from her and our grandpa. I’m glad you’re here today. I know the check-out line is pretty long; sorry.

Have you seen our Buckeye Trail themed succulents for sale to celebrate our upcoming town festival? Aren’t the little signs cute that look like the blue blazes painted on the trees to help hikers know where to go? We are already selling a lot so if you want more than one, I’d get them now. I propagated all these little plants in our greenhouse in the back. I just love growing plants.

Will you be attending much of the festival? I’m looking forward to the music, myself. And the group hike on Saturday morning. It will be like a parade on the trail. How fun! I also feel pretty obligated to go to the haunted trail on Saturday night. I used to play basketball back in high school and that event will benefit the basketball boosters. Honestly, I’m not sure how scary it’s really going to be. I’m a little nervous about it. Are you going to go? May and her kids and I are also going to go to the birding event at the park on Sunday. May love birds. They’re okay. I never remember to fill our feeder at home.

Oh hey. You’re next in line. I’ll let you unpack your cart. So nice to chat with you. I hope we run into each other at the festival.

Follow along as Molly attends the Hawthorn Heights Buckeye Trail Town Festival and gets involved when a naturalist is found dead during the Saturday morning group hike in Secrets, Songbirds, and Succulents by Iris March, the latest novel in the Succulent Sleuth Cozy Mystery Series.
