A quaint bookshop, a sprinkle of magic, and a dash of mystery.
Harper Sullivan yearns for a place to call home, preferably with a delightful bakery nearby. When news arrives that she’s inherited her great-grandmother’s bookshop in the charming town of Havenwood, Harper eagerly seizes the chance. Unbeknownst to her, the quaint bookshop carries more than just shelves of stories—it harbors inherited mysteries and a touch of magical mayhem.
But instead of the cozy haven she envisioned, Harper finds herself entangled in inheritance drama, a surprising cousin rivalry, and a daring book thief on the loose. Can she use her wits and witchy powers to untangle the mystery and safeguard her dreams from unraveling before they even begin?
Crack the case today! Grab your copy and solve the mystery!
Character Guest Post
Hi there!
Harper Sullivan here, coming to you from my slightly chaotic, slightly magical bookshop, Sullivan’s Spellbooks. If you’re ever in Havenwood, stop by! Just don’t touch anything that glows. Or hums. Or bites. Actually, maybe just call ahead.
When I moved back to Havenwood to take over Granny Bea’s bookshop, I thought I’d spend my days surrounded by the comforting smell of old books and the occasional tourist asking if we sell broomsticks (spoiler: we don’t). What I didn’t expect was a steady stream of mysteries, magical mishaps, and the daily challenge of refereeing squabbles between Luna, my granny’s sassy rabbit familiar, and Mr. Wigglesworth, the shop’s resident Maine Coon with a fondness for food, naps, and annoying Luna. He’s great at all three, but especially the latter.
Havenwood is…unique. It’s the kind of town where the extraordinary and the ordinary collide in ways that make you wonder if you’re in a modern fairy tale. Centaur cops direct traffic with surprising efficiency (though parallel parking is still a struggle), dwarven mechanics turn rusty buckets into works of art, and witches brew teas so potent you’re pretty sure they could solve world peace…if they didn’t keep the recipes to themselves.
Then there’s Spellbooks. Let’s just say, owning a magical bookshop isn’t as simple as dusting shelves and ringing up sales. There are days when it feels like I’m wrangling more than just books, but hey, life’s never dull here.
Of course, Havenwood isn’t all enchanted scones and picturesque strolls down Enchanted Lane. There’s always some kind of mystery brewing, and it usually lands squarely in my lap. Whether it’s a missing rare tome, a suspicious shadow lurking in the alleys, or just trying to figure out why the shop feels colder on certain days, there’s no shortage of intrigue.
But here’s the thing about Havenwood: you’re never alone. My best friend Bella is always there with a steadying presence (and a perfectly timed eyebrow raise when I’m overthinking things). Thistle, the shy tree nymph in the backyard, is a wonderful listener—though her advice is often in the form of nature analogies. Even Grimgor, our half-giant handyman, finds time between poetry recitations to help me fix the shop’s quirks.
Running Spellbooks has been an adventure—and not the kind with giant fire-breathing dragons (although there is a tiny one flapping about if you know where to look). It’s taught me that magic isn’t always about wands or spells. Sometimes, it’s in the quiet moments: a kind gesture, a well-timed cup of tea, or the way the community comes together when it matters most.
So, if you ever find yourself in Havenwood, stop by the shop. Just remember to check the chairs—Mr. Wigglesworth is very particular about his seating arrangements, and trust me, you do not want to argue with a 20-pound cat who thinks he’s royalty.
Warmly,
Harper
