My Q&A with Jorgia Yates

Hi, Jorgia! Thanks for taking the time to share a bit about yourself with my readers and me!

Tell us a little about yourself.

Did you always want to be an author? What or who has influenced you the most as a writer?

Hi! Yes, I always wanted to be an author. I tried a few other avenues that interested me like photography and journalism, but I always came back to writing.

What is the first book you remember reading as a child? What was one of your favorite books you read as a child?

Oooh, that’s going back a while. 😉 I can’t remember exactly, I’d have to ask my mother, but I do know one of my favorite books was called “The Girl with the Pot on Her Head.” I still have it, I still think it’s funny, and my son likes reading it too.

Do you have a favorite place to write? What’s on your desk (if you write at one!)?

I’m incredibly blessed to have my own room to write in. I don’t write at a desk, never have, I sit on a second-hand recliner and put my feet up and look down the harbor and watch the boats come in.

If you had the opportunity to live anywhere in the world for a year while writing a book that took place in that same setting, where would you choose?

That’s such a great question! Wow. Okay, let’s pretend I’m healthy, and not a frumpy old thing who’s set in her ways, I’d pick small-town Maine. On the coast. Hahah perfect! I’ll be Jessica with you!

What inspired you to write Collision Course?

The idea for this story was originally conceived due to my enjoyment of the show Burn Notice and the will-they-won’t-they romance between two main characters, but it soon morphed into something far deeper as God took control.

While in Collision Course events conspire so Reese must choose between his wife’s well-being and his stressful career, it soon became apparent I was writing an action-packed version of my own story!

Our very personal battle to hold our family together became firmly embedded into the plot, so I hope readers can connect with Reese’s struggle to prioritize family over career and Verity’s stubborn refusal to let him foolishly tear apart what God has joined together.

Finally, what are you working on now? Can you tell us a bit about it?

Sure, I can! The second book, Lethal Deceit, is with the editor. The story flows on from Collision Course ends and features a con-artist, Samantha, and a self-righteous coast guard, Mick bent on revenge.

While I wait for that to come back, I’m researching book three and writing! Always writing!

Thank you again for taking the time to answer my questions!

Thank you for having me!
