Welcome Spring With a Healthy Lifestyle

The chill in the air is finally starting to abate. You’re ready to wear tank tops and shorts, but you’re concerned about your appearance. You want to look and feel good this spring. No worries! You can start out this new season with a healthy lifestyle. Try these simple tips to slim down and feel good at the same time.

Welcome Spring With a Healthy Lifestyle

Eat up Some Oats

Add some oatmeal to your daily diet. Avoid those instant types, however. Look for steel-cut oats so that you gain the most nutrients out of the food. The coarse oats are perfect fiber for your digestive system. You’ll feel fuller for longer, which naturally fights your cravings.

The oats also improve your cholesterol numbers. Mix up the steel-cut oats with brown sugar, syrup or blueberries. Almost any sweet addition works well with oats.

Count Your Steps

Regardless of your dietary choices, exercising each week is critical to a healthy body. The only effort that you need to put forth is simply walking. There’s no need to take on a difficult exercise regimen if you aren’t excited at the prospects. Use a pedometer to count your steps as you walk around the neighborhood. Walk on a treadmill too. All of these activities improve your health alongside smart snacking choices.

Fill up on Vegetables

One food that you can eat with almost reckless abandon is vegetables. Leafy vegetables, in particular, are perfect when you want to eat something in great volume. You gain fiber, nutrients and a filled stomach as a result. Ideally, eat the vegetables in their raw form. Cooking them down reduces their nutritional values. You might introduce oils and other fats into the cooking process too, which negates the healthy aspect of your meal.

Curb your Sweet Tooth With Fruits

Many people have a sweet tooth that they must satisfy each day. Instead of grabbing a chocolate bar, fill your office or home with various fruits. These natural sugars satisfy the craving while improving your health with countless nutrients.

To liven up your fruity snacks, add lowfat yogurt to them. The dairy component creates another level of nutrients to the snack while keeping the calorie count down. As an alternative, skip the dairy and create your own fruit salad. Varying flavors will only improve the entire, taste sensation.

If you end up eating unhealthy food one day, don’t be too hard on yourself. Everyone needs a “cheat day” so that some indulgences can be practiced. Some athletes have monthly cheat days where they forego counting calories. You might follow this same strategy because a healthy body is just waiting for you as a result.
