We’re all different, and we have all sorts of body issues and problems. You might find some of them pretty embarrassing, but you’d be surprised how many people are suffering the same thing. Embarrassment doesn’t just happen when you have a problem ‘down there.’ There are plenty of others which can make you go red in the face, but they are all perfectly normal. So, what embarrassing body issues are you suffering with in silence when you needn’t be? Here are a few.
Acne
People can get very embarrassed about their skin and suffering from acne, especially as they get older and realize that it isn’t just a teenage problem. Adults suffer from acne too. It makes people feel self-conscious about the way they look because they worry that others think they are dirty. However, acne can be caused by a number of things. These things include hormones, stress, pollution, or eating certain foods. If you are suffering, then it is worth trying to change these things first before asking for medication from the doctor. Something really simple may clear it up.
Toilet-related issues
We are usually embarrassed by anything’ down there’ and toilet-related. From urine infections, constipation, or hemorrhoids, many problems could cause you discomfort and leave you feeling embarrassed. A lot of them can be treated with products over the counter, so if you don’t feel quite ready to go to the doctor, then you could try your pharmacist first.
Hearing problems
This one really shouldn’t be embarrassing, but people do get self-conscious of asking people to repeat themselves. Or they feel isolated when their hearing starts to deteriorate. There are simple solutions, and even just hearing protection, which can make this issue not such a problem anymore.
Odor issues
This one can be embarrassing because you can’t always smell it yourself, but other people can. Body odor is often associated with the armpits. However, you can also get it in the groin, upper thighs, and feet, so thoroughly washing your skin with a wet washcloth and soap in those areas which are prone to sweating can help prevent body odor.
Sweating
Excessive sweating or hyperhidrosis isn’t life-threatening, but it can affect your quality of life. Plus it can be embarrassing. Most people never seek help for this problem, but there are over-the-counter antiperspirants that can be applied to your hands and feet, as well as the armpits. A doctor can also prescribe higher-strength, aluminium salt-based antiperspirant, which can be effective.
Itching
There are many things that can cause itching, and it can be embarrassing if you feel like you’re scratching yourself all the time. It could be caused by something as simple as the clothes you are wearing or the washing powder you’re using, but it could also be a symptom of something more serious, like a rash or an illness.
Excessive hair growth
Excessive hair growth can be particularly embarrassing for women. It is known as Hirsutism and is often caused by genes, hormones, or medication. If you have more facial or body hair than you want, there are a number of ways you can remove it. Be sure to see your doctor because he may be able to help too.
If you are suffering from any of these embarrassing body issues, call your doctor to be safe.
