Losing Toby and a new puppy
You all know how much I love my fur babies. Those of you who follow me on social media may have seen that at the end of June, our dog Toby died very unexpectedly. We were (and are still) devastated by his loss. If you’ve ever lost a pet, you know how hard it is. That loss just leaves a huge hole. My kids and I couldn’t not have a dog, so several days later we adopted Duke from the dog warden.
As you can see, he’s not spoiled at all! He’s fitting right into our family, and though he’ll never replace Toby, he gives us a puppy to love and cuddle. The dog warden says he is part Brittany Spaniel part Retriever. During a BlogPaws Chat, someone told me he looks like he’s part Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever. I’d never heard of that breed, so of course Google came in handy! He does have the markings of one and his little bark sounds … Read more...

“Oh, mom, you love me so much!” I’m sure that Indiana Jones is thinking that. He is a camera hog. I didn’t even have to coax him over for this picture. Whenever I have the camera out, he has to be in the pictures! It works out nicely for pictures I want him to be in, but not so much for others! Oh well, at least he is cute. His brother, Sammy, never wants to be in the pictures, but he does appreciate the toys. The “foster” kitty Boo Boo, who may or may not be leaving at the end of the month depending on my nephew, is crazy about the treats!
Cat Toys from Hartz
Cats. They’re as bad as kids when it comes to getting bored with their cat toys…and losing them under the couch. They also love getting new toys, just like kids do. First, they have to smell them. “Is this going to bite me?” After they figure out that it is safe, they touch … Read more...

You may be wondering how can litter be pretty? Well, PrettyLitter is a new kind of cat litter. Rather than being a clumping litter, it has highly absorbent crystals that absorb the moisture, trap the smell and eliminates the urine. Pretty, right? The only scooping you have to do for the month is any poo your kitty has.
I’ve been using this litter for about two weeks and love it! I was skeptical because I’ve been using a clumping litter forever! I always figured the clumps were good because that meant I was scooping out the urine. Wrong. I was wasting litter, and it still smelled! Since PrettyLitter doesn’t clump, a bag lasts you an entire month. You’ll need one bag per cat or per litter box. If you order 3 bags a month, you’ll get one bag free!
When I got the bags, I was surprised at how light they were. I also couldn’t see how that small amount was going to be enough! But like I said, … Read more...
Pets are a welcome addition to many homes; they’re loyal, playful, and full of unconditional love. However, they also shed hair and dead skin cells wherever they go. For asthma and allergy sufferers, this dander could easily trigger an attack. Fortunately, there are a few ways to reduce the presence of pet dander to help you create a healthier living space for your family. Check out these 4 ways to prevent pet dander in your home.
Keep Your Pets Clean
Bathing your pets rids them of the excess dander just waiting to litter your home. You’ll want to clean them with a high-quality pet shampoo so their fur and skin don’t dry out. Schedule a bath for your furry friends at least once a week to keep them clean and maintained. If they shed constantly, consider bathing them every few days to prevent dander from piling up.
Brushing your pet’s coat is also a helpful way to gather up loose hair before it can fall on your floor and come in contact with your skin. Just remember to brush them outdoors so you avoid leaving a mess inside your home.
