My review of Falling for the Rodeo Cowgirl
I absolutely love Cari Lynn Webb’s books, especially those that she’s set in Three Springs, Texas. There are several books in the Three Springs, Texas series, but this is the second in her Three Springs, Texas Romance series. I highly recommend all of them! Falling for the Rodeo Cowgirl is a sweet, swoon-worthy, wholesome romance, and I adored it.
Right from the start I loved Hank and Gwen! They have a humorous meet-cute and from there their connection blossoms into a friendship and eventually into more. I loved the banter between the two, and it was so sweet watching Gwen interact with Hank’s young son, Henry. It’s easy as a parent to get so busy with the everyday things that you forget to just stop and listen to your child talk. At five, they’ve certainly got a lot to say! Gwen and Henry first bond over a stray cat named Chuck who’s been staying around Hank’s motorhome but won’t be coaxed out from underneath!
There are familiar side characters to those of us who’ve read other books set in Three Springs, but you certainly don’t need to already know them; you’ll love getting to know them! There are also side characters with larger roles to play like Gwen’s cousin Ashley. Gwen and Ashley used to be the best of friends while they were growing up, but because of Gwen leaving to become a rodeo star, their relationship is very strained.
It was both heartbreaking and heartwarming watching how guilt and forgiveness affect the bond they once shared. Gwen’s relationship with her Grandpa had also become distant due to Gwen’s secrets and the shame she unnecessarily felt. Hank also had become distant from his Three Springs family because of the guilt he felt over not talking to them over the past years. The characters are so real because their relationships are just like real-life ones. Rather than talk about the hard things, we (like they) would rather just cut off communication with those who would be supporting us if they only knew what we were going through.
I love happy ever afters, and that’s what you get when you read Falling for the Rodeo Cowgirl. I highly recommend it for its wonderful, realistic characters, humorous moments, heartwarming scenes, small town setting, and sweet romance!
