My Review of The Heartfelt Formula
You know that SQUEEEEE sound you make when something is just too adorable, and you love it too much for words? That was me when I finished reading The Heartfelt Formula by Leslie Kirby DeVooght. If you love your Christmas books with a Hallmark-y vibe, this is a must read for you! We all know that those movies follow a certain “formula” right? Well, Hope is one Christmas romance movie believer type of girl. She figures that she’s got the formula down pat, and she just needs to execute it well for it to work. I can’t see any issues with this…
I completely adored this book! It’s a friends to more…with a bit of fake relationship for the sake of Hope’s mom and step-dad thrown in for good measure. While this fake relationship is taking place, Hope and Brennan head to a small town on Georgia’s shore along with their co-workers for a case they’re working on. Small town. Check. Find a guy online who happens to live in this small town and is a furniture maker and is hot. Check. Fall in love with the guy wayyy before meeting him just because he fits the formula. Check. Plan all sorts of “these are essential” activities because they’re in the movies. Check. Carry out the formula with no problems. Yeah, no.
The characters in this book are so well-written. Brennan and Hope are absolutely perfect for this story! Their banter is so much fun to read, and I love the way that they can talk about serious things with each other in a way they never have with anyone else. I love that this is clearly an inspirational book. It’s not just going to church. It’s a genuine faith-filled romance. There is so much more that I loved about this book and about the other characters but no spoilers! I obviously highly recommend this book and would give it more than 5 stars!
