My review of The Single Mom’s Second Chance

I love it when a book leaves me with a sigh and a smile, and The Single Mom’s Second Chance by Tara Randel does just that. Though it’s the second book in the Golden, Georgia Romance series, you can read it on its own. The books each tell a different Connelly sister’s story, and this one is Addie’s. I love this small town! This is actually the second series that Randel has set here, and I loved the first one too. 

This heartwarming, wholesome romance is one you can easily read in a day or two since you’re not going to want to stop turning the pages! I adored Addie and Nolan’s friends to more romance story. Addie’s dream of opening a gym in a building she and her sisters inherited feels like a huge financial risk to her since she’d have to sink all of her savings into it, but her late husband’s best friend, baseball star Nolan Travers, thinks it’s a good investment. 

The two become partners in the endeavor and partners in coaching Addie’s son’s baseball team. A devastating elbow injury has Nolan out for the season, and he’s staying in Golden for the summer. Since Addie has never coached a baseball team, she asks Nolan to help out. They are friends after all. He agrees, and this leads to them spending more and more time together. As time passes, their friendship deepens into genuine love. 

Randel writes such charming love stories with well-developed characters who have to deal with realistic problems, and this book is evidence of that fact. Even Addie’s son, eight year old Jacob, showed character growth throughout the book. I enjoyed the interactions among the characters: Jacob and his cousins, Addie, her sisters, and their mom, Nolan and Addie, Nolan and Jacob…so many heartfelt moments. 

I highly recommend The Single Mom’s Second Chance for its layered characters, small town setting, entertaining plot, and the romance that develops between best friends.
