We all know that time flies, but when we have little ones sometimes it feels like time is NOT flying. Those times when tantrums and crying and sleepless nights are ruling our lives, we may feel like this stage of our lives will last forever. It doesn’t. My kids are now 20 and 17. Thank goodness they haven’t flown the nest yet, but that time will be coming sooner than I want! I’m trying to pack lots of fun into our summer since summer always goes way too quickly.
Kyle, the 17 year old, has been all over the place this summer! It is sort of driving me nuts, but he’s a boy. He’s having fun with his friends. And at least he isn’t out partying or on drugs. I did get to spend time with him at Cedar Point and the Cleveland Zoo! He and his friends drove to Lake Erie on their own one day…ACK! But they had fun. They’ve been long boarding, playing video games, and practicing their music.
Molly and I have been spending more time together. We’ve got a theater close to us that costs $1.75 on weekdays, $1 on Wednesdays, $2.25 in the evenings….so we’ve been going on Wednesdays when possible! These movies are ones that have been in the theater for awhile, but they are still recent releases. So far we have gone to see Insurgent, Cinderella (for the second time), and The Age of Adaline.

Insurgent is the second movie in the Divergent series. Have you seen these yet? They are very good! I read Divergent and Insurgent. I WISH that it would end here, but Allegiant is coming. I did not read Allegiant. I’ve heard that it ends terribly, so I will most likely just watch the movie and hope for the best. If you like dystopian fantasy, you will love Divergent and Insurgent. I actually liked Insurgent more than Divergent. But you do need to watch Divergent first! Divergent is already on DVD and Insurgent will be released August 4, 2015.

We’ve seen this Cinderella movie twice! The first time we saw it right after it released, and this time we saw it for $1. Cinderella was ALWAYS one of Molly’s favorite movies. I can’t tell you how many times I heard, “Watch Rella?” in my lifetime. But, like mother like daughter. I love the original Cinderella too! This version is SO cute! If you have not seen it yet, you must! The cinematography is amazing. The costumes are perfect. The acting is wonderful! It is one I will watch over and over.

Molly was not impressed with this movie. She says it doesn’t work as a film. IDK. I liked it. I think it is more of a movie for people my age though rather than a 20 year old girl. I think that the acting was very good, though the premise is definitely far-fetched. Molly didn’t like the narrative parts of the movie. She thinks that it would have been better had the narration of what happened to Adaline been left out. Maybe. Either way, I liked it. I probably won’t watch it again though. My advice would be to rent it at Redbox…maybe see if you can get a free code and then you won’t be wasting your money if you end up with the opinion Molly has!
What have you done to make your summer special so far? Stay tuned for my next installment. Maybe next week…maybe not. The suspense is killing you right? 🙂

We have a theater near us that shows free movies on Tuesdays. We try to hit a few of them every summer!
One of ours does that too, but usually they're aimed to little ones. We used to go to those when my kids were into those movies.
They are, but they are still fun, right? Our theater even lets us bring in our own snacks so we don;t have to buy popcorn & snacks there (unless we want to).
Wow, that is amazing! They have signs on all the doors saying no outside food.
Killing me. You have no idea.

Awww! Cherish every moment! It is all of the little things that count!
Don't you wish you could just stop time or rewind and go back for a little bit *sigh*
I read Allegiant and loved the ending. I thought it was fitting for the story but I get why some were upset. I took the kids to see Cinderella and they both loved it and I do want to see it again too.
Yes, I so do! Well, maybe I will give the book a chance then. Did you see the movies yet? Of course, they're not as good as the books, but they are good!
I like the first one, not a fan of some of the changes in the second movie and I'll wait to hear if the cave to fans and change the ending in the third. I like the book ending and hope they don't change it.
I know! I am wondering if they'll do the "alternate" ending thing with the third. I am pretty sure they're breaking it into 2 movies. I don't get why they think they need to do that all the time now!
We've been doing a lot of outdoor activities. We love to grill and play horse shoes in the back yard.
My son has taken over the grill since my husband passed. It is nice that he is able and wants to do it. Now mowing the yard...not so much!
Her graduation dress is beautiful. I am very glad you gave your opinion of the Age of Adaline movie. The previews looked good and you're right the storyline is a bit far fetched.
It looks like you're having a good summer together.
Thank you! We really are! I'm hoping we get to just pack in all the fun we can!
We need a theater like that near us! I haven't seen any of these movies yet, but they actually sound like ones I would really like (I've been known to be picky about movies, lol!).
How I wish we also have a theater that offers free movies. We've only seen Cinderella, but I heard The Age of Adaline is a great movie.
The Age of Adaline should be on DVD very soon, so you should rent it!
I LOVED Cinderella! I wanted to see Age of Adeline but we don't have any inexpensive theaters in our area.
Maybe you can get it at Redbox when it comes out to see if you like it enough to buy it!
I did see Age of Adaline but I haven't seen Cinderella or the Divergent movies. It's so cool that your theater has those prices. I'd definitely see more movies if my theater offered weekday prices that low.
My three year old is Disney Princess Obsessed so we saw Cinderella twice at the movie theater. I know it is going to be playing nonstop when we get it on DVD>
Wow I need to find a movie theatre with prices like that! Great way to spend a hot day!
