The Knights Before Christmas

by Joan Holub

Illustrator: Scott Magoon

Recommended Ages: 4 to 8

Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Books-A-Million

Goodreads | Indiebound | iBook | Kobo

Book Description:

‘Twas December 24th, and three brave knights were just settling in for the night when out on the drawbridge, there arose such a clatter! The knights try everything to get rid of this unknown invader (Santa Claus!), a red and white knight with a fleet of dragons . . .

But nothing would stop
their white-whiskered foe.
No matter their efforts,
he just would not go!

This parody of Clement Clarke Moore’s well-known poem ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas is kid-friendly, clever, and just plain silly. Sure to become a holiday classic of a different kind!

My Review

The Knights Before Christmas is another great book by author Joan Holub with adorable and colorful illustrations by Scott Magoon. I thought that the knight themed take on ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas was adorable. What kid doesn’t like knights? The fact that the knights are trying to keep Santa out of the castle is very funny! The little added text in the illustrations definitely bring out the humor in the story. I know that parents will enjoy reading this story to their children as there are things only grown-ups will get in the little added bits of humor. The coat of arms and drawing the bridge are so cute and just cracked me up.

You need to share this book with your children this Christmas. They will laugh as you read this to them, and they’ll love the bright and fun illustrations. I definitely recommend adding The Knights Before Christmas to your Christmas tradition this year.
