10 Reasons to Buy a House in Cleveland, Ohio

Neighborhoods

Cleveland has many great neighborhoods! Among the top locations in Cleveland are Chagrin Falls, Tremont, Rocky River, Detroit Shoreway and Shaker Heights. Though they are diverse in what they offer, they all offer location. Being close to the action is great, but being in a quiet neighborhood has its perks too. You get the best of both worlds when you buy a house in Cleveland, Ohio.

Lake Erie

Lake Erie has some great beaches that are perfect for spending an afternoon relaxing. Take a picnic lunch and a good book, and you’re good to go! Huntington Beach is a must visit, and if you live in Cleveland, you’re always close!

Cleveland Sports

Unless you’re living under a rock, you know that the Cleveland Cavaliers hold the NBA 2016 championship title. I’m sure they’re on the way to another one too! (Crossing my fingers!) We’ve also got the Cleveland Indians who ALMOST won the World Series and are doing great this year. We’ve got hockey and “football” too. I’m not sure how much football the Browns actually play, but let’s not talk about that. Maybe someday we’ll be awesome again.

Theater

If you are a fan of Broadway, you don’t have to go all the way to New York City to see some amazing performances. PlayhouseSquare has plenty of great events every year. The 2017-2018 KeyBank Broadway Series is set to include Broadway greats like Waitress, Rent and Aladdin.

Music

Not only does Cleveland have great concert arenas, they’ve also got the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. I’ve visited the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame several times. There is always something new and exciting to see there.  Everyone who loves music needs to visit at least once!

Food

There are so many amazing places to eat in Cleveland, but one reason you want to buy a house in Cleveland, Ohio is being close to West Side Market. West Side Market is Cleveland’s public oldest market. It is home to 100 vendors offering meats, seafood, fruits, vegetables, baked goods, dairy, flowers, ready-to-eat foods, and more.

Cleveland Metroparks

The Cleveland Metroparks consists of many parks with many choices! You can find something for everyone in the Cleveland Metroparks. Part of the Metroparks is the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo. This zoo is so much fun! It is home to so many animals and their conservation efforts are commendable. It’s just another reason to buy a house in Cleveland, Ohio.

History

If you are a history buff, there are many places for you to enjoy in Cleveland. One of those places is the USS Cod Submarine. It was a WWII submarine, and it is right here in Cleveland! There is also Lake View Cemetery where President Garfield is buried and is a top spot to see in Cleveland.

Museums

When you buy a house in Cleveland, Ohio, you are never too far from a museum. Some of the museums in Cleveland include the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Crawford Auto-Aviation Museum, Western Reserve Historical Society, and the Children’s Museum of Cleveland.

A Christmas Story

Last, but certainly not least, is A Christmas Story House! Raise your hand if you watch A Christmas Story multiple times when it runs 24 hrs on Christmas Eve. I do! I’m sure most of us have fond memories of watching this movie with our families.

These are just a few of the reasons you may want to buy a house in Cleveland, Ohio. What are reasons that you bought a house in your neighborhood!

  • I am a Boston girl for life, but Cleveland sounds like a city that I would LOVE to visit. I had no idea there was so much fun stuff to do there.

    • It would be hard to leave Boston with so many amazing things, but yeah, Cleveland is really cool too.

  • Great list, Christy! There are so many great things in Cleveland. My list would also include the hospitals. We are lucky to have Cleveland Clinic and University Hospitals so close. It's one of those things you don't think about until you need them, but then you are so very thankful you don't have to travel across the country to get access to the nation's top medical specialists!

    • Yes, we really are fortunate to have those highly regarded hospitals here! The hotel we stayed at actually caters to traveling nurses and patient's families as well since it's got a kitchen and is pet friendly.

  • I have driven through there but never had the opportunity to stop and check out all the sites. It looks like there's a lot to do there, I totally forgot about the Christmas story. That is probably one of my favorite movies.

    • I am putting a tour on my bucket list! I wanted to go this past weekend, but it was pouring down rain.

  • I have never been to anywhere in Ohio but have heard things about Cleveland. A few of my friends ended up with jobs there and I am glad to see that they are in such a good location!

  • I would be most excited to buy a home in Cleveland because of all the food options! We always look for great restaurants and markets in an area that we would like to live in and good schools for the kiddos ;)

  • One of the things that would make me excited about living in Cleveland is getting to go to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,I have wanted to go there for years,I'm a big music fan and trivia buff. What I look for when buying a house is wanting to live in a safe neighborhood, job availability, and lots of fun things to do and see and it looks like Cleveland has it all!
