National Picnic Day

Summer screams picnic time. Packing up a basket full of great food to enjoy with friends or family on a nice, warm summer day sounds about perfect, right? Think about the last time that you went on a picnic.  What did you pack? Sandwiches, fruit, veggies and ice-cold drinks typically top the list.

If you need to add some new items to your basket, there are a ton of great options out there! Here are a few items to consider purchasing to give your basket a boost!

10 Items you Need for Your Summer Picnic Basket

  1. Blanket

What picnic would be complete without an awesome blanket to set on? Don’t sit on the cold, hard ground. Spruce up your area with this classic checkerboard picnic blanket with a nice foam lining for a bit of extra comfort.

  2. Disposable Paper Food Trays

While using reusable items is typically better, it’s not always an option. If you need some easy to use food containers, why not use a few of these disposable paper food trays for your picnic? They are easy to pack, easy to clean up and small enough that they don’t take up a bunch of room.

  3. Portable Sun Shade

Picnics in the summer are great, but it can get super hot as well! Take away the feel of those summer rays beating down on your picnic with this awesome portable sun shade.

  4. Mosquito Repellent Bracelets

Ants aren’t the only thing that loves picnics. If you want to stay bite-free during your picnic experience, why not be proactive and wear these mosquito repellent bracelets to help keep those pesky bugs at bay? You are going on a picnic to eat lunch, not be a snack for those mosquitos!

  5. Folding Wood Cutting Board

Space can be quite limited when packing for a picnic, so why not take along this awesome folding wood cutting board that can be extended when needed and folded small when not in use? It’s a great way to cut up some cheese or fruit and have it waiting for your picnic guests to enjoy.

  6. Glass Water Bottles

If you are looking for a way to have nice, clean, odor and chemical free water bottles that you can use over and over for your picnics, these are the ones for you. Best part? They are eco-friendly as well!

  7. Citronella Beeswax Candle

Who doesn’t love dinner by candlelight? PLUS, it repels mosquitoes. These candles are a double bonus!

  8. Wet-Nap Antibacterial Hand Wipes

If you’re taking a hike, and want to eat afterwards, you need to have a way to clean and sanitize your hands, right? With these handy wet wipes, getting rid of those germs has never been easier.

  9. 8-Piece Flatware Set

You can’t enjoy that picnic without some silverware to eat with, right? With this awesome flatware set, you get 8 different flatware pieces (fork, spoon, knife and even chopsticks!) plus a carrying case to keep them all organized and together.

  10. Washable Napkins

Being able to wipe off those crumbs is a must. Why waste paper if you don’t have to when you can use these reusable and washable napkins for your picnic adventure?

Planning and packing for a picnic shouldn’t be a stressful time! Think about the items that you need to have and then plan accordingly to add them to your basket. Don’t forget to reuse items as much as possible to be earth friendly! Check out a few of the items from the list above and see if they are a “must” for you. There are so many great options out there to make your picnic special so make certain you are having fun while exploring the ones that fit you and your needs the most!
