Simple Ways to Protect Your Pipes Through Routine Maintenance

Lifestyle

Thanks for sharing!

You know, pipes are something we don’t think about until they give us trouble. There are some simple ways to protect your pipes, so they will give you less trouble in the long run. Here are some routine maintenance tips for you to follow so you’ll have fewer major problems to deal with!

Routine maintenance for your pipes

Think about your daily routine. You fix meals, do dishes, take showers, brush your teeth, shave. In other words, you use your pipes a lot.

Watch what goes down your drains

One way to protect your pipes is to be sure things aren’t going down them that shouldn’t be! I know, it is difficult, but by using things like a good drain stop you can help keep hair and food out of your drains.

If you’ve got a garbage disposal, use it correctly. It should have come with a manual, but if you don’t have the manual, look online! There are certain foods that cannot go into a garbage disposal. Plus you’ve got to run the water while you use it and let it run for about 15 seconds after as well.

Baking soda and vinegar

Another routine maintenance tip for you is to use baking soda and vinegar regularly to clean and disinfect your pipes. Not all pipe cleaning requires you to break out your Roto-Rooter, though you should keep it on hand for those tough clogs. Using baking soda and vinegar is easy. All you need is boiling water, a cup of baking soda and a cup of vinegar.

Pour some boiling water down the drain, then pour in a cup of baking soda followed by a cup of vinegar. Cover and let it sit for 10 minutes. Pour more boiling water down the drain, and you’re done!

Septic Care

If you’re not on city sewer and use a septic system, you’ve got to do routine maintenance with it too. This is where Roto-Rooter Septic Treatment comes in. By using this once a month, you can avoid costly back-ups.

Roto-Rooter’s Natural formula uses 2X more enzymes than the leading national brand to eliminate more paper, fats, oils, grease, protein, and starch. This product also helps eliminate unpleasant odors and dampness in leach fields.

By performing routing maintenance on your pipes, you can prevent lots of issues in the future.
