It is being called A Modern-Day Mark Twain-Style Adventure Story. Ryan Oliver, from The Playlist, calls it “A funny, heartwarming adventure.”
The film follows Zak, a young man with Down syndrome who runs away from a residential nursing home to fulfill his dream of attending the pro wrestling school of his idol, The Salt Water Redneck.
On the road, Zak meets Tyler, a small-time outlaw who becomes Zak’s unlikely coach and ally. Together, they set out on a wild, life-changing journey and try to convince Eleanor, a kind nursing-home employee charged with bringing Zak back, to join them.

My review of The Peanut Butter Falcon
I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved THE PEANUT BUTTER FALCON. You might be wondering, “What is this movie? Why haven’t I heard of it?” Well, you’ve heard of it now! This story is one that’s going to stay with you. It’s funny, exciting, heartwarming, and completely entertaining.
Though the plot of the movie is about Zak wanting to meet his hero, The Salt Water Redneck, the subplots are what make the movie amazing. It’s all about the journey, and I felt like this is a lesson we all need to learn. The journey is where we learn about each other and ourselves. It’s during the journey that we grow stronger. Don’t be in a rush to get to the ultimate goal. Enjoy the steps you take to get there.
These characters were amazingly acted and written. Writer/directors Michael Schwartz and Tyler Nilson wrote this film specifically for Zack Gottsagen, an actor with Down syndrome, after they met him at a camp for actors with disabilities and were inspired by his fierce determination to become a leading man in Hollywood. I am so glad that they did. The casting could not have been better. This film deserves major accolades. Trust me on this one. You need to watch it yourself!
