A bargain deal on a safari + one dead body = An adventure no one could plan for.
Naomi and her estranged sister are off on a trip of a lifetime—an African safari, a bucket list trip for Naomi on which she got a last-minute deal. Naomi thinks traveling with her sister will be the worst part of her African safari until she finds one of their fellow travelers, the unlikable Dr. Higgins, dead. She gets more adventure than she bargained for when she starts investigating what she thinks is murder but the luxury lodge says was a tragic accident. She only has a few vacation days, and a few game drives, to find the killer.

I glanced at the clock. I needed to be in bed in twenty minutes in order to get eight hours of sleep. And I didn’t know when I would have a good nights sleep again. Probably when I got home from vacation.
Tomorrow, I would be boarding an overnight flight to Africa. With my sister.
We had spent little time together in our life times. After our parents’ divorce, I (and our brother Jeremy) stayed with our mom. Naomi went to live our father. I don’t remember life before their divorce, which means I don’t remember much of Naomi.
Although I’m sure we had, I could not think of one time we had spent a night in the same room. And now we were going to spend an entire vacation together in the same room.
Early morning game drives. Hot weather. One bathroom.
Would we survive?
I didn’t know why I agreed to go. But the timing was right. I had a couple weeks before resuming medical school. And shouldn’t I want to spend time with my sister?
I closed my pink roller hard-sided luggage—a Christmas present from my mom. It was neatly packed and full of safari ready clothing. The lodge’s packing list was thorough and I had managed to get each item in.
I got into bed and set my alarm. I bet Naomi was just starting to pack now. And I doubted she had even looked at the packing guide. Or consulted one guide book. I pushed anxiety out of my head. The lodge had a full, detailed itinerary. I would not be responsible for my older, disorganized, flighty sister.
I closed my eyes and said a quick prayer for a safe trip. And I prayed that the bumpy roads on the twice daily game drives would be the only bumps we faced.
About the author of Sleuth on Safari
A. R. Kennedy lives in Long Beach, New York, with her two pups. She works hard to put food on the floor for them. As her favorite T-shirt says, ‘I work so my dog can have a better life’. She’s an avid traveler. But don’t worry. While she’s away, her parents dote on their grand-puppies even more than she does. Her writing is a combination of her love of travel, animals, and the journey we all take to find ourselves.

This book looks really good. I just saw a movie about an African animal preserve and it was beautiful.
