Q&A with the author of Have a Magical Day
Question: What inspired you to create Hope Nuggets?
Wendell Miracle: After my mother passed away from breast cancer in 2012, it was the darkest time of my life. I lost my best friend, biggest supporter, and most of all, my passion for life. I didn’t have any money to my name. But when I started to take life seriously and spend time learning new things, it gave me purpose and made me hungry to become something of myself.
I first launched Hope Nuggets on Instagram back in 2013, which at the time only allowed 15 second videos. I only had those 15 seconds to share a nugget of information to motivate people and bring hope to whatever situation they were facing. With Have a Magical Day, I share these messages with the goal of showing people that they can make every day magical, and every day happy.
Question: How has your faith guided you through challenging times?
Wendell Miracle: Even when I was broke, depressed, and felt like there was nowhere to turn, I had unwavering faith that I would come out on top in the end. With this mindset and lifestyle, even my not-so-magical days ended up being magical, because they helped me grow.
Doubts about faith will come, along with negative thoughts and fears. You need to have faith, but you don’t need to wait for answers to your prayers to find happiness. Faith isn’t the absence of doubt; it’s the ability to push through the doubts and enter your destiny. You need to declare that you are blessed before you actually start seeing blessings.
Question: You say a positive morning routine determines the type of day you will have. How so?
Wendell Miracle: When people start their day, they complain about the weather, traffic, and the jobs they’re going to. But if you start your morning being grateful and counting the blessings you have in your life; it makes an incredible difference in your day. I encourage you to add 10 blessings to your list of things you’re grateful for and give thanks to each of them.
When I open my eyes in the morning, I’m grateful that I get to see another day! I give thanks for the running water and for toothpaste, and the bed I sleep on. I also began to do a car dance routine every morning I get in my car! When I started this, I would bop to the music and have an amazing sales day. Within the year of starting my car dance routines, I finished in the top one percent in sales. I guarantee if you count your blessings in the morning and top it off with a car dance, you will live happier, freer, and with tremendous success.
Blessed to be a blessing
In my church we say we’re blessed to be a blessing. I know that it is true. No, I don’t believe in the health, wealth, and happiness “gospel” because Jesus says that in this life we’ll face trials and tribulations. “But be of good cheer. I have overcome the world.”
Though everything isn’t going to be sunshine and daisies, Jesus still tells us to be of good cheer. And whether you have been blessed with abundance or you only have “the widow’s mite,” give when you see a need, and you will be blessed.

The following snippets of wisdom are taken from chapter 2 entitled, “Be a Blessing.”

We live in a society where the motto is to look out for number one. What’s in it for me? We have the mentality that says, ‘I can help you, but how does this benefit me?’
When we live with a ‘me me me’ mentality, we won’t live to our fullest potential. However, when you give what you have, when you desire to be a blessing, you will never go without it!
A closed hand cannot give or receive blessings.
Kindness
‘You have not lived today until you have done something for someone who cannot repay you.’ –John Bunyan
A random act of kindness per day can do wonders. It can boost happiness, lower blood pressure, decrease stress, release feel-good chemicals, and inspire more kindness!
Luke 6:38 in the Bible says, ‘Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down,and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom.’
In 1995, preemie twins Brielle and Kyrie Jackson were born. They were 12 weeks premature, and the nurses concluded that one of the babies was not expected to live.
One of the hospital nurses fought through hoops and bounds to get the twins in the same incubator. She successfully got them in the same incubator, and the stronger baby put her arm around her sister, who wasn’t expected to make it. Her touch allowed the struggling baby’s heart to stabilize along with her temperature returning to normal. In due time, both twins made it and left that hospital completely healthy! Today they are known as the “Rescuing Hug” twins.
My friends, somebody needs your touch. Somebody needs your smile, your presence, your love.
Life isn’t all about you. It’s about being a blessing to others. Who can you bless today? Who can you hug? Whose life can you turn around?
Some benefits of generosity
There are many benefits to being generous. Generosity actually promotes physical health. Physical and mental health improves after just one act of kindness. Giving improves blood pressure the same way exercise and medicine do.
Making an effort to be a giver will also reduce stress. Did you know that being selfish and stingy is connected to higher levels of cortisol? Cortisol is your body’s stress hormone. The more you give, the less stressed you are.
Can you imagine a world where everyone made an effort to give?
There would be so much love and gratitude. There would be no room for anxiety or depression because everyone would be rooting for each other to succeed instead of being in competition. And, there would be less jealousy, strife, hate, and bitterness.
Final thoughts
I found Have a Magical Day to be a very positive book, and we absolutely need more positive things to dwell on. 2020 has been rough. No one denies that. However, we can still be joyful because happiness and joy shouldn’t be dependent upon our circumstances.
Though I may not completely agree with some of the content, there is much wisdom to be gleaned from it.
(Note on speaking things into existence: Only God can speak things into existence. We’re called to have faith, and I am 100% behind speaking positively. However, here’s one example of how the “Law of Attraction” can be detrimental to your Christian faith. Amazing Christians die of cancer or other things every day. If we believed we could speak things like healing into existence, people would live to a ripe old age and die in their sleep. Does it mean that because Ravi Zacharias died, he and hundreds of thousands of Christians praying for his healing didn’t have enough faith? No! Christians need to be sure what they believe is backed up with truth.)
We should absolutely live with a positive attitude, and that positive attitude should not depend on our circumstances. As Paul says in Philippians 4:12-13 NIV: 12 I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. 13 I can do all this through him who gives me strength.
So, not matter what our circumstances, we can be happy and have joy inside.
