Character guest post
When you think about villains… maybe the great villains you’ve read in the past… what do you think of? I guarantee, you won’t think of me.
My name is Edward Archer, and I think that Vangie Vale (the “sleuth” of the book you’re about to read) would say that I’m her villain. I think it’s a copout, if you ask me. We are our own villains, am I right?
Of course I’m right.
Think about it. Vangie likes to say that I was the person who ruined her life back in North Carolina, but if I’m honest, I think she ruined her own life. She had to know that I wasn’t interested in her, romantically. She had to know that I was just leading her on. Why wouldn’t I, when it benefitted me and it didn’t hurt her? She loved it.
She had to know it wasn’t going anywhere. What guy would be friends with a woman for years and never ask her out? None. If a guy likes you, you know it.
I mean, she can think I’m the villain all she wants. But she made her own choices. She liked it. And if you ask me, she didn’t want a relationship then, anyway. She was just using me, too.
Yeah. I think you see my point. Right? Of course you do. I’m no villain.
I certainly didn’t deserve to die… No matter what Vangie might think.

Sounds like a fun read, with a lot going on with the characters.
What a great character guest post! I really enjoyed reading something not found in the book — in this case, Edward’s perception of his relationship with Vangie — instead of a repeat of material from the book. Thanks, Becca!
