My review of A Valentine’s Proposal

A Valentine’s Proposal is a delightful clean romance book from the Harlequin Heartwarming line. It’s got one of my favorite themes in romance books: a fake engagement. You know, there is always a good reason behind these fake relationships…mom keeps bugging you about your single status; you need a plus one for a wedding, so your male colleague agrees to be your fake boyfriend, etc. In this case, a planned publicized engagement arrangement goes awry, and Mariah needs a replacement engagement…and fast. Well…you’re going to have to read the book to find out how this Valentine’s proposal goes from a charade to “there may be something there that wasn’t there before.”

This book has a fun meet-cute. And we know, sometimes first impressions are BAD. This is especially true when one party thinks he’s being helpful and the other party thinks he’s mansplaining. And, of course, the characters are going to be thrown together lots during the book. I absolutely love how the author spreads this story over the course of a few months. Sure, quick romance stories are cute too, but this is much more believable.

A Valentine’s Proposal has some wonderful characters including Abigail Carter, Nelson’s grandmother. I’m always drawn to grandmothers in books since I was a grandma’s girl. Abigail is a strong, compassionate woman. She feels a sense of obligation to bring life back into the small town which has been hit with economic hard times. Since her family owned the mill (the main source of the town’s income), she wants to breathe new life into it, and that’s where Mariah comes in. I love Abigail’s vision for the mill and the way Mariah broadens the vision to make sure it sustains the town’s economy all year long.

A Valentine’s Proposal is a page-turner, and you’re not going to want to put it down! Start reading in the morning, so you can get to bed at a decent hour! I can’t wait to read the next book in the Cupid’s Crossing series. I’m sure it’ll be just as wonderful as this!

A replacement engagement is a new twist on the fake relationship scheme. This looks looks like a sweet, clean read that’s just right for Valentine’s Day.

Thank you for posting about my book, A Valentine’s Proposal, earlier this year. It was the first in the Cupid’s Crossing series, and the third one, A New Year’s Eve proposal is coming out soon. Would you be interested in a copy? I can only send digital copies since I live on a boat in the Caribbean, but I’d be thrilled if you’d care to read it.
