How To Stop Cleaning Products And Sanitizers From Drying Out Your Skin

Thanks for sharing!

We’ve all become very familiar with hand sanitizer over the last year and it can have a big impact on your skin. Even before that, many people struggled with dry skin due to the harsh cleaning chemicals and sanitizing products they used. This can be tough to deal with if you are a parent because you spend a lot of your time cleaning up messes. It’s also important that everybody in the family uses sanitizing products to kill bacteria and prevent illness, but that does lead to some serious problems with dry skin. So, how can you get around this problem?

Avoid Products With Irritants

Picking the right products and avoiding certain ingredients can stop your skin from drying out. Alcohol is one of the worst offenders and it’s found in most hand sanitizers, so it’s a particular problem at the moment. The good news is, there are some great sanitizing products that are not alcohol-based, like Zylast. If you check out some Zylast reviews, you’ll see that it’s just as effective at killing bacteria and keeping your family safe, but it’s much kinder to your skin. Swapping out your lotions and hand creams for non-alcohol versions will make a big difference.

Common household cleaning products also contain a lot of irritating ingredients like lye, ammonia, or sulfuric acid. Check the labels and try to avoid buying any products that contain these ingredients. If you look for eco-friendly, natural cleaning products, these are often better for your skin.

Don’t Wash Your Hands In Hot Water

Most people assume that it’s best to wash your hands in hot water because it kills more bacteria, but it also dries your hands out a lot. As long as you use good quality soap and wash your hands using the right technique, you will still kill all of the bacteria with warm water instead of hot, and it’s much kinder to your hands.

Avoid Touching Your Face When Cleaning

If you touch your face while you are cleaning, you can transfer the cleaning products and dry your skin out. The skin on your face is far more sensitive than it is on your hands, so even gentle cleaning products can cause an issue. Sometimes, you do this without even realizing it but it’s important that you try to pay attention to it.

Moisturize After Cleaning

Using a good moisturizer is the most effective way to stop your hands from drying out. It’s good practice to moisturize your hands and face in the mornings and evenings as part of your normal skin routine. However, you should also moisturize after cleaning because your skin will come into contact with a lot of cleaning products and hot water. Moisturizing immediately afterward will limit the damage and help keep your skin nice and soft. You should use different products for your face and hands too. On your hands, use thick creams that will lock in plenty of moisture. On your face, look for oil-free products that will moisturize your skin without causing a buildup of oil, which leads to breakouts.

Keep these simple tips in mind and be careful about the products you use and you can stop cleaning products and sanitizers from drying out your skin.
