The only apparent witness to the crime is a child who doesn’t speak. Motives abound, suspects are plenty, and it’s up to Olivia to discover why the child has implicated her as the key to solving the murder.

My review of Silence Says the Most
Silence Says the Most by Kathleen Bailey is the second book in the Olivia Penn Mystery series. Though I didn’t read Where the Light Shines Through, the first book in the series, I could easily pick up on the important things that I missed as well as get to know the characters. I do like to read books in order, but I appreciate it when the author allows readers to jump right in no matter which book they start with.
Olivia is still back home in Apple Station, VA located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley. She writes a syndicated advice column, and she’s been writing remotely since returning home for a visit six months ago. Circumstances from book one have kept her in Apple Station, and since reconnecting with her friends and spending time with her dad, she’s not sure that she wants to leave. When she finds a dead body, she gets caught up in the case.
I really enjoyed Silence Says the Most. I feel like I got to know Olivia well. Her friends and the supporting characters in the book are well-written, and I felt like her dad and friends became more real to me as the book progressed.
The author uses descriptive language which makes you feel as if you’re in the wooded park with the lake and in the small town participating in their activities. The small town setting makes the book feel more cozy.
I enjoyed gathering clues and making a suspect list along with Olivia. I must admit that I waffled back and forth when it came to which character I thought was guilty.
If you’re a fan of small town cozy mystery books with a strong female protagonist, I think you’ll enjoy Silence Says the Most just like I did!
