Preparing Your Bedroom For A Newborn: Everything You Will Need To Do

Thanks for sharing!

New parents spend so much time preparing a nursery for their new arrival. After all, it’s part of the fun choosing furniture for your little one’s room. But for the first few months of your newborn’s life, they will be in the bedroom with you. So as well as sorting out that important nursery, you need to make sure your bedroom is ready too. Here is everything you will need to do to prepare your bedroom for the new arrival.

Clear the bedroom of unnecessities

It’s so important that you make a clear path from your bed to the doorway. For one thing, you don’t want to slip while you are carrying your baby. Also, once your baby moves into their nursery, you don’t want to find it hard to get out of your room to get to the baby as you are maneuvering your way past loads of stuff! Therefore, clear your bedroom of all the unnecessities. If you want to keep the items, find some form of storage to put them in. Everything else will need to be thrown before your newborn arrives. It will help you feel less stressed if your bedroom is clear before the baby comes too.

Purchase a small crib which will live beside your bed

Although your baby will have a primary crib in their nursery, it’s unlikely that they will sleep in there until they are at least six months old. For the first few months of their life, they will be sleeping next to you. And you don’t want to drag the big crib into your bedroom for the first few months. Therefore, you should look into getting a mini crib which can easily be placed next to your bed. That way, the crib won’t take up too much space so will easily fit next to your bed. You should opt for one which comes on wheels so that you can maneuver it around the house. With so many options available, you should have no problems choosing one.

Give the room a good clean

One of the most important things you need to do to your bedroom is to make it clean. After all, your baby’s health is the most important. Therefore, you don’t want any old food underneath the bed turning into mold. Before baby arrives, you need to give the whole room a good clean. It would be a good idea to move the bed out of the way to ensure you get to clean every area. That way, your baby will stay healthy while they are sleeping in your bedroom. And remember to get a room thermometer so that you can check how warm the bedroom is. That way, you can adjust the temperature as necessary if your child is too hot in the night.

And remember even though your bedroom will now become baby-land for the next few months, it’s still a room for you and your other half. Therefore, aside from the essentials, keep everything else in the nursery. That way, it still stays a private haven for you and your other half.
