With the official reopening of Brady’s and their sophomore year beginning, Maddie, Cornelious, Carly and Pilot are ready to shift their focus back to high school. However, with their successful sports teams, the continued growth and organization of the Pitbulls, possible new relationships blooming, dating and unrealized jealousies coming to the surface, the teenage sleuths find themselves more distracted than ever. After piecing together some clues, they wonder if someone in Asbury High is to blame for yet another crime.

Guest post: WHAT’S THE HARDEST THING ABOUT BEING A WRITER?
The most difficult thing about being a writer, for myself, would be realizing that not everyone is going to love my work. I know it sounds obvious, but the first time I got a not so great review, I felt quite downhearted.
Luckily, I do have an amazing support system—including the world’s best husband. To make me feel better, he looked up my favorite book—Harry Potter—and read off a one-star review to me. I had to laugh, and did feel much better. I mean, if such a popular book could get a bad review, surely my new series will too.
What I truly learned, was not to take things personally. Honestly, I haven’t enjoyed every book I’ve ever read and I shouldn’t expect to. Plus, I understand with this series (my first), the genre is a bit nichey, as it is a young adult, cozy mystery.
Thus, when I accrue a less than shining review, I take a deep breath and smile. The fact that the person felt anything enough to even write a review, means I made them feel something after all!
To any new authors who feel dispirited after receiving a negative review, I implore you to shake it off. Yes, the reader may not have enjoyed your work, but they could and probably are in the small minority. Writing and publishing a book is a big deal and should be treated as such.
If that doesn’t work… you can always make it an excuse to eat some Ben and Jerry’s as a pick me up 🙂

After graduating from NJ’s own Ocean City High School, Kelly accepted a basketball scholarship to Holy Family University, in Philadelphia. As a lifelong athlete, Kelly understands the importance of teamwork and overcoming adversity, something she hopes translates into her books.
Before writing page-turners, she taught first, fifth, sixth, seventh and eighth grade — like a dessert menu, she simply had to test them all out.
