Love Overboard Excerpt

Breathe in, breathe out.

Caitlyn slowed her breathing and willed calm to her tingling limbs and her pounding heart. After disembarking the ship, she and Greg boarded a bus to the airfield. Her fear of heights didn’t extend to flying in commercial aircraft. During the thirty-minute drive, she watched a safety video and signed waivers about accidental death. She reconsidered her opinion.

Standing in a group of eager tourists, she studied the scene. Ice-capped green mountains surrounded the large flat landing pad. Across the pavement, the helicopters gleamed in the bright sunshine. The choppers looked well cared for and innocuous, but she didn’t know the quality of the parts or experience level of the pilots.

Greg bumped her with his shoulder.

She caught her lip with her teeth. If she showed her fear, then he wouldn’t force her to board the deathtrap. They were barely acquaintances, but she knew him. From under her lashes, she studied his chiseled features and noted the concern in the line forming between his brows. How could she share such bone-deep understanding with a stranger? “I’m fine. Just a little anxious to get underway.”

“I’m sure.” He nodded. “You’ve waited a long time for this excursion.”

Longer than you know. She pulled back her shoulders and lifted her chin. “I’m excited.”

“Come on.” He lowered a hand to her shoulder. “They’re waving us over.”

He dropped his hand and brushed her fingers. If she grabbed his hand, would he pull free? Or would he squeeze her hand in reassurance? She crossed her arms and trailed him to their designated helicopter.

Reading a book like this, makes you reflect back on when you were young and romance was plentiful. Not saying that it isn’t now, but not to that level…lol Just enjoy a happy romance and ending.
