Anxiety is something that can come and go in our lives. It can be as a result of feeling low, stressed, nervous, or just happen when we are faced with new and uncomfortable situations. You may never know the cause, but after a stressful and hard year for so many of us, you could be left feeling much more anxious than before. But what can you do to help yourself to cope? Here are some natural ways that you can help yourself to feel less anxious and less stressed. Small changes to your lifestyle can really make a difference.

  • Taking some time-out, away from what you are doing, could be just what you need, if only for a short amount of time. It could be five minutes to listen to one of your favorite songs or something longer like having half an hour to get a massage. You could stretch, meditate, practice yoga, or try some other relaxation techniques. When you step away from your normal situation, it can really help.

  • When you eat meals that are balanced, containing all of the goodness that you need in your diet, then it can make such a difference to how you feel. Eating well-balanced foods will leave you feeling satisfied, helping you to concentrate better, as well as giving you the energy that you need. Eating well really is key to good health, and not just related to your weight. It helps your mind and body to function as it should, which is going to help when you’re feeling anxious or low.

  • There are certain foods or drinks that can make your anxious feelings much worse. You may have some that you know don’t help you, such as foods that are too high in sugar, for example. However, two things that definitely won’t help when you are feeling anxious or stressed are caffeine or alcohol. They are two things that really aggravate anxiety and they can be massive triggers for things like panic attacks. So they should be limited, especially when you are feeling especially anxious.

  • Although there are some things that should be avoided, there are some products or ingredients that can definitely help when it comes to feeling anxious. One thing that is very popular at the moment, and it is easy to see why, is CBD oil and other hemp products, such as those sold at sites like Bay Smokes. These have been proven to help with anxiety and have been proven to help stress, making you feel more calm. This is the end goal, as you can’t always remove the stressor, but being able to cope with it better will make a difference to how you feel.

  • We all know how a bad night’s sleep can impact us, right? We can feel grumpy and quite miserable, which is not a good thing to help anxiety. You may also feel that when you feel anxious or stressed, that you need to get even more sleep. So do what you can to ensure that you are able to get a good night’s sleep.

  • You may not be aware of what triggers your anxiety. But if you can take steps to figure it out, then it can make a big difference to how you feel. Does work or school cause the problems, or perhaps it is certain situations, for example, experiencing social anxiety in social situations? It can be a good idea to make a record of how you feel each day, and then notice if there is a pattern on certain days and what those patterns are. If you notice a trend, it can help you to do something about it.

  • The old catchphrase goes that it is good to talk. This has never been more true than when it comes to talking about how you feel, especially when stressed or experiencing anxiety. Talking to friends and family about how you feel can help, especially those who have experienced something similar. If this isn’t possible, then a doctor or therapist will be able to help. Don’t bottle it up and keep things to yourself as it can make you feel worse overall.

  • It can be easier said than done in many instances, but it is important to remain positive and keep a positive attitude when facing anxious feelings. For every negative thought that comes into your mind, flip it on itself and think about how you can put a positive spin on it. It won’t make the anxiety go away, but it will help you to deal with it and help you to feel better.
