How To Be Healthy When You Have Literally No Time

Healthy Living

Thanks for sharing!

Being healthy is all well and good for people who work part-time and have plenty of money. But what about everyone else working 40 hour weeks and looking after kids on the evenings and weekends? Can they be healthy too?

The conventional wisdom is “no” – they don’t have the time or energy. But is that actually true? Do you need time and energy to be healthy?

It depends on how you look at it. If you view your energy as a fixed resource that you drain every day, then yes, you are operating under limits. However, if you see energy as something that you can create from within using “right actions,” then you can have as much of the stuff as you like.

The bottom line is this: when you make healthy choices, you automatically increase your energy. Furthermore, by making the right choices, you also give yourself more time. When you feel fresh, you can often get more done at work, freeing up space for other activities in your life.

Start Cycling To Work

If you travel to work, then commuting is time that you can’t get back. It goes down the drain. But if you combine it with exercise, then it isn’t time wasted at all. Instead, it is adding to your wellness.

Get yourself a decent bike and then look for possible routes to and from work. You’ll often find that cycling is just as quick as driving, especially if you live less than three miles from the office. Over time, you’ll notice yourself getting fitter and healthier – and all without any significant changes to your schedule.

Eat Microwaved Porridge For Breakfast

Do you only have five-minutes for breakfast? If so, grab some microwavable porridge, put it in a pot and set the timer for two or three minutes. You can then grab it out of the microwave and eat it on your way to work if you don’t have time to sit at your kitchen table.

Porridge is a wonderfully healthy way to start your day and it’s so simple. Once you have a bowl, it should keep you filled up until lunch. Add a fruit and seed topping to enhance the nutrition further.

Sleep At The Same Time Every Night

You might think that it’s impossible to go to bed at the same time every night, but that’s not entirely true. When you think about it, you still have the same 24 hours in the day. It’s important to go to bed at a set time so that you can maintain your body clock. It is something that rehab center clinicians practice with their patients.

Remember, if you have a lot to do, you can always wake up earlier in the morning and carry on. If you repeatedly stay up late, you’ll start experiencing burnout and, eventually, your body will give up on you.

So do you think you’re too busy to be healthy? Or do you think you could include some of these ideas in your schedule?
